Study to make recommendations for upstart Fastjet, will probably operate in west Africa

Fastjet (Fastjet.com) will probably now operate in west Africa. As we previously reported, EasyJet’s (London-Luton) founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, had threatened to start a new low-cost airline named Fastjet to compete against the airline he founded.

Stelios and his family currently control 38 percent of easyJet’s stock. Stelios has been critical in the past of the current easyJet management and their aggressive expansion plans and has also pushed for payouts to the stockholders.

A study commissioned by Stelios is now focusing on west Africa with a probable base at Accra (Ghana). The study will probably recommend connecting Accra with six west African countries with low fares according to this article by the Financial Times.
