Frontier Airlines to de-hub Milwaukee

Frontier Airlines (2nd) is basically admitting it can’t make a profit in Milwaukee, the former home of Midwest Airlines which was acquired by its parent Republic Airways Holdings (Indianapolis). Frontier is de-hubbing MKE. The carrier will cut 11 flights at Mitchell International Airport and lay off 125 employees effective on June 1. This will leave only seven flights a day. The routes being dropped include Columbus, Indianapolis, Nashville, Omaha and Pittsburgh. Less than two years ago Frontier had 241 daily flights at MKE and promised local leaders it would increase service according to this article by the Journal Sentinel.

Will Southwest/AirTran continue to add flights at MKE?
