Silver Airways (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has filed a 90-day notice with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that it intends to drop its Montana routes under the Essential Air Service (EAS) program according to the Independent Record.

The airline will be required to operate the routes until a replacement carrier is located. The DOT has set a deadline of July 15 for the bids from other carriers. Silver Airways intends to move its Beech (Raytheon) 1900Ds from the Montana operation based at Billings, MT to the Cleveland operation.

Previously Great Lakes Airlines was outbid by Silver Airways (formerly Gulfstream International Airlines) for the EAS contract and may re-bid the contract.
