QANTAS Airways introduces two new logo jets, will close the Avalon maintenance base

QANTAS Airways (Sydney) has introduced two new Boeing 737-800 logo jets this month. Boeing 737-838 VH-VXA (msn 29551) was introduced in a special “Official Airline  of Cricket Australia” scheme. Boeing 737-838 VH-XZJ (msn 39365) (above) was accepted from Boeing on November 9 and features a special “Mendoowoorrji” scheme.

The airline issued this statement:
QANTAS is proud to fly our newest Indigenous art aircraft, the Balarinji-Bedford “Mendoowoorrji” 737. Balarinji’s aircraft design interprets the Paddy Nyunkuny Bedford painting, Medicine Pocket, held in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia. Balarinji has created all four QANTAS Indigenous art aircraft, and celebrates 30 years at the forefront of Australian design in 2013.

In other news, QANTAS has announced it will close its Avalon Boeing 747 maintenance base by March 2014. Any remaining 747 work will be shifted overseas. 300 engineers will lose their jobs.Read the full story from the Sydney Morning herald: CLICK HERE
