Air Canada rouge to launch flights between Montreal and Orlando on February 15

Air Canada rouge (Toronto) will begin flying nonstop flights between Montreal (Trudeau) and Orlando starting on February 15 with two daily departures from Montreal. Service will be year round and represents a 30 percent capacity increase this summer compared to Air Canada service last year. Air Canada rouge offers more flights between Montreal and Orlando than any other carrier. With the launch of the increased Montreal service, there is more Air Canada/Air Canada rouge nonstop service between Canada and Orlando than any other carrier, with Air Canada flights from Halifax and Ottawa and Air Canada rouge flights from Toronto and Montreal.

Flights between Montreal and Orlando will be operated with Airbus A319 aircraft.

Took it. Very bad surprise if you are used to the good Air Canada service. Crampy, uncomfortable seats. I took Rouge Premium, and this is a shame to Air Canada’s reputation. I bought a flight pass for Florida after experimenting previous service, but they switch to this school bus type of comfort without any compensation and flight pass is not refundable since they offer the “service”. It is like pre-paying for a nice Hilton suite and being transferred to a Super 8 motel, no refund since there is a bed. AC logic is to offer an LCC price to compete with charter, but the results are not there. Price wise, it is the same as the Montreal Orlando flight in the past except comfort and service are not there anymore. I did check prices a few minutes ago: cost of one way direct flight from Orlando to Montreal this Friday is $584, compared to $159.95 on a competitor airline, but requiring a stop in LGA. So price hunters will go to the competition. AC can’t beat American carriers on price on a profitable basis, so why risk to aggravate their existing loyal customer base by packing them in a too tight aircraft at risk of seeing them going elsewhere?

Thank you Marc for the first-hand experience and input. You raise a lot of good questions on this change of many leisure routes to rouge “service”. Thanks again.
