African Express Airways Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia is shot down in Somalia, 6 killed

African Express Airways Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia (5Y-AXO), operating a domestic flight on May 4 between Mogadishu and Baidoa, Somalia was shot down, allegedly by a rocket. The aircraft came down near Bardale.

Chartered by NGO, the aircraft was transporting medical supplies. All 6 people on board were killed

African Express Airways was established in 1986. Based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, African Express Airways is the largest privately owned airline in East Africa.
