Skymark Airlines to install a 4-day workweek for office employees

Skymark Airlines, due to decreased demand due to COVID-19, has decided to introduce a four-day workweek for office employees in early 2021.

The measure will apply to office workers.

Skymark is the first Japanese airline to introduce such measures in order to keep its employees employed.

Skymark Airlines was founded in November 1996 as an independent domestic airline after airline deregulation in Japan and commenced operations on September 19, 1998.

As previously reported, the airline filed for bankruptcy protection in January 2015 after reporting ¥71 billion ($571.3 million) in liabilities.

The airline today operates domestic flights in Japan, mainly from Tokyo (Haneda) (HND).
