Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos-ITA (2nd) (São Paulo) launched its first flight from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo to Brasilia on June 29, 2021.
On July 1, 2021 the carrier added Belo Horizonte.
Founded in 2020, ITA began operations on June 29, 2021. The company will fly to eight Brazilian cities in the beginning.
By June 2022, the company is planning to operate to 35 destinations in Brazil and hopes to have 50 aircraft in its fleet.
This is the second time that Itapemirin Group has operated an airline.
The first time was with Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos, which operated between 1991 and 2000. It had a cargo division, Itapemirim Cargo, which operated six Boeing 727s. It flew from Viracopos to Manaus and it also operated on the Campinas-Galeão-Recife-Fortaleza route.
The other division was Itapemirim Regional, which operated flights between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with two Cessna Caravans, between 1997 and 1998.
The Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) was revoked by the defunct DAC – Department of Civil Aviation in 2000.
