El Al Israel Airlines is replacing its iconic safety video, which for nearly a decade featured mentalist Lior Suchard, with a new series starring Israeli actors Gal Gadot, Rotem Sela and Lior Raz, and basketball player Deni Avdija.
In recent years, airlines have increasingly turned safety videos into high-profile productions featuring humor, storytelling and celebrities in an effort to encourage passengers to watch the briefings from beginning to end. EL AL’s new series follows that trend while adding destination-specific elements and technology to the traditional safety briefing.
The new safety videos, which began appearing on EL AL flights in August, use advanced artificial intelligence technology and destination-specific content to give passengers a different viewing experience depending on their flight. As part of the initiative, approximately 10 different videos were produced and tailored to specific destinations. Instead of presenting a single safety video across all flights, passengers will enjoy a changing viewing experience in which visual elements vary according to the destination, while selected flights also include destination-specific recommendations.
The initiative was produced in collaboration with Samsung and integrates Samsung Galaxy devices and Galaxy AI technology as an integral part of both the storyline and the visual language of the videos.
The technology enables EL AL to create multiple versions of its safety video, refresh and adapt content over time, incorporate new stories for different destinations and continue enhancing the customer experience in the years ahead while increasing passengers’ attention to critical safety messages.
