Eve announces a Letter of Intent (LOI) for up to 150 eVTOLs from partnership between Embraer and BAE Systems

Eve Holding, Inc. announced today at the Farnborough Airshow a non-binding Letter of Intent (“LOI”) with Embraer and BAE Systems to explore the potential order of up to 150 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles with the aim of examining the aircraft application for the defence and security market. In a separate announcement, BAE Systems and Embraer signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) at Farnborough International Airshow to potentially form a joint venture to collaboratively develop an innovative defence eVTOL variant using Eve’s platform.

In December 2021, Embraer and BAE Systems disclosed plans to collaborate on developing Eve’s eVTOL as a potential defence variant. This agreement reinforces the trust of the leading aerospace organisations in Eve’s vehicle and its adaptability for purposes other than urban air mobility.

The potential order will be added to Eve’s current backlog of 1,910 eVTOLS, the largest within the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry.

Alaska Air Group orders 8 additional Embraer E175s, to be operated by Horizon Air

Alaska Air Group has announced plans to grow its regional fleet with an order of eight new additional Embraer E175 jets and options for 13 more.

The E175 aircraft will fly exclusively for Alaska Airlines under a Capacity Purchase Agreement (CPA) with Horizon Air.

The value of the contract, including options, is USD $1.12 billion based on list price.

Horizon’s new 76-seat aircraft from this order will be delivered in Alaska’s livery and three-class configuration over the next four years starting in Q2 2023.

The Horizon Air 76-seat E175 jet features 12 seats in First Class, 12 in Premium Class and 52 in the Main Cabin. Onboard amenities include free entertainment featuring more than 1,000 movies and TV shows. Additionally, customers seated in First Class enjoy 110-volt power in every seat.

Transitioning to a single jet fleet

Earlier this year, Horizon Air announced it would move to a single fleet of all E175 jets. The carrier currently flies a mix of 31Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft and 30 E175s. It will take delivery of 9 E175s over the next year as part of a previous order that also includes 3 deliveries in 2025.With this order by 2026, if not sooner, Horizon will have a fleet of 50 E175s.

With bases in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska, Horizon serves more than 45 cities throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, the Midwest, and British Columbia and Alberta in Canada.

The Alaska Airlines’ E175 experience:

Seat pitch is 31 inches in the Main Cabin, 34 inches in Premium Class and between 36 and 38 inches in First Class.
All guests flying on the E175 will enjoy a window or aisle seat.

Aviation Capital Group orders 12 Boeing 737-8s

Boeing and Aviation Capital Group LLC (ACG) today at the Farnborough International Airshow announced the aircraft lessor is growing its 737 MAX portfolio with an order for 12 additional 737-8 jets.

Today’s announcement will see ACG expand its 737 MAX order book to 34 airplanes, building upon an order for nine 737-8s in May 2022. Boeing is seeing strong market demand for the 737 MAX family, with more than 1,000 gross orders across all models since late 2020.

Jetlines to launch operations on August 15, first routes to Moncton and Winnipeg

Jetlines (Toronto) will launch operations on August 15.

Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. (Canada Jetlines), the new, all-Canadian, leisure airline, announced today the launch of airline ticket reservations for departures from its initial flight on August 15, 2022, onwards through travel agents and on http://www.jetlines.com. The carrier will be offering launch special fares available for a limited time for flights out of its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), to domestic destinations Moncton, NB (YQM) and Winnipeg, MB (YWG).

Porter Airlines orders a further 20 Embraer E195-E2s

Porter Airlines has placed a firm order for 20 Embraer E195-E2 passenger jets, adding to their existing 30 firm orders. Porter will use the E195-E2 to extend its award-winning service to destinations throughout North America. The deal, with a list price value of US$1.56 billion, brings Porter’s orders with Embraer to a total of up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft, with 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights.

In 2021, Porter ordered 30 Embraer E195-E2 jets, with purchase rights for a further 50 aircraft, worth US$5.82 billion at list price, with all options exercised.

Porter Airlines will be the North American launch customer for Embraer’s newest family of jets, the E2. Porter’s investment is set to disrupt Canadian aviation; enhancing competition, elevating passenger service levels and creating as many as 6,000 new jobs. Porter intends to deploy the E195-E2s to popular business and leisure destinations throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, from Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Porter’s first delivery and entry into service is scheduled starting in the second half of 2022. The E195-E2 accommodates between 120 and 146 passengers. Configuration plans for Porter’s E2s will be revealed in due course.

ORC signs order for an ATR 42-600

ATR and a Japanese regional airline, ORC (Oriental Air Bridge), today signed an order for an ATR 42-600 to further support the airline’s domestic operations in providing reliable essential connectivity in Nagasaki and Fukuoka regions in southern Japan. ORC will also benefit from optimised support from ATR through the Global Maintenance Agreement (GMA) which contributes to reduced operators’ maintenance costs and boosts operations.

There are currently 15 ATR aircraft flying across Japan. ATR foresees a potential for 100 ATR aircraft operating in Japan in the medium term.

AerCap, world’s largest 787 customer, adds 5 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Boeing and AerCap Holdings N.V. today announced that the global lessor is growing its substantial 787 Dreamliner portfolio with an order for five additional 787-9 jets.

AerCap now has 125 787 Dreamliners in its portfolio or on order. The world’s largest 787 customer, AerCap continues to invest in the 787 family, which has received more than 700 repeat orders from 47 customers across the globe. The 787 has been the most-utilized widebody throughout the pandemic due to its efficiency, capacity and capability.

Boeing designed the 787 family with superior efficiency, which allows airlines to profitably open new routes to fly people directly where they’d like to go in exceptional comfort.

Since revenue service began in 2011, the 787 family has launched more than 325 new nonstop routes around the world, including 50 routes opened since 2020. The 787-9 can fly 296 passengers up to 7,565 nautical miles (14,010 km) in a typical two-class configuration.

TUS Airways receives its fifth Airbus A320

TUS Airways has announced the latest addition to its growing aircraft fleet with the arrival of its newest Airbus A320 aircraft at Larnaca International Airport.

With the arrival of the fifth Airbus A320, TUS Airways will increase flights on several scheduled routes between Larnaca to Tel Aviv, Paris & Greece as well as launching new charter services from Cyprus & Tel Aviv to support both leisure and business travel.

This summer TUS Airways offers an expansive network including flights from Larnaca to Paris, Skiathos, Preveza, Kefalonia, Kalamata and Tel Aviv, from Paphos to Paris & Tel Aviv, and from Tel Aviv to Dusseldorf, Toulouse, Verona and Greece.

De Havilland Canada increasing operational flexibility of Dash 8-400 aircraft with design weight increases and cabin enhancements

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) today announced design weight increases and cabin enhancements for the Dash 8-400 aircraft.

“As we work toward relaunching the production of the Dash 8-400 aircraft, our design weight increases and cabin enhancements, which are available to retrofit in-service aircraft, illustrate De Havilland Canada’s ongoing commitment and investments to support the worldwide fleet,” said Jean-Philippe Côté, Vice President, Programs, De Havilland Canada. “Our solutions offer our operators many opportunities to increase operational flexibility and to provide a passenger experience that is equivalent to that on new production aircraft. In addition, our design weight increases for the Dash 8-400 aircraft will allow operators to meet the increasing passenger weight allowance requirements mandated by Transport Canada, the FAA and various other aviation authorities, without any impact on revenue.”

DESIGN WEIGHT INCREASES

The design weight increases will provide an increase of up to 3,000 lb (1,360 kg) in payload (maximum zero fuel weight) and an increase of up to 2,000 lb (907 kg) to the maximum take-off weight of the Dash 8-400 aircraft. These weight increases significantly enhance the operational capability of the aircraft to carry more passengers, more bags, more cargo, and more fuel, and provide more range than ever before. The weight increases are offered in multiple standard categories and De Havilland Canada can also provide customized weight increases to meet the specific needs of a particular operator. The increased fuel tankering capability offers operators options to refuel at points of the network that provide greater operational flexibility and cost optimization.

In addition, an increase of 650 lb (295 kg) is being developed to the aft baggage compartment for operators who require additional baggage weight carrying capability.
