Thai Airbus A330-321 HS-TEG operating as flight TG 47 overruns the runway at Khon Kaen, Thailand

Thai Airways International (Bangkok) flight TG 47 scheduled to operate from Khon Kaen to Bangkok with Airbus A330-321 HS-TEG (msn 112) aborted the takeoff and skidded off the runway as it attempted to takeoff last night (November 3) There were no injuries according to the National. The incident closed the airport and a Nok Air flight was forced to divert to another airport.

Thai inspects the landing gear of its Airbus A330-300 fleet

Thai Airways International (Bangkok) has inspected its Airbus A330-300 fleet for possible issues involving the landing gear. According to the Bangkok Post, the airline had previously encountered problems with the Airbus A330-300 landing gear prior to the accident a week ago (September 8) involving HS-TEF. The nose wheel collapsed on landing at Bangkok and the aircraft veered off the runway.

According to Thai and this report, the accident involving HS-TEF, was due to “defective bogie beam on the aircraft’s landing gear.”

Meanwhile Thai has removed its name and logo from the damaged HS-TEF.

Thai Airways International’ Airbus A330-300 HS-TEF skids off the runway in Bangkok, 8 hurt

Thai Airways International‘s (Bangkok) Airbus A330-321 HS-TEF (msn 066) while operating flight TG 679 from Guangzhou (CAN) to Bangkok (BKK) (Suvarnabhumi) with 287 passengers and 14 crew members skidded off the runway on landing in Bangkok after the front landing gear failed late last night (September 8). At least 8 passengers were slightly injured during the evacuation (some media reports raise this number to 14).

Thai issued this statement:

โ€œThai Airways International Flight TG 679, Guangzhou โ€“ Bangkok operated with Airbus 330-300 aircraft departing Guangzhou at 16:03 hrs. (local time) scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 23:00 hrs. (local time) experienced incident while landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport. As the aircraft was landing, the landing gear touched the runway, the nose gear failed. As a result, the plane skidded off the runway. The captain took control of the aircraft until it stoped and the passengers were evacuated using slides. The aircraft was carrying 287 passengers and 14 crew members. 8 passengers were slightly injured. Injured passengers were taken care and sent to hospital for medical treatments.โ€
