Qatar Airways touches down in Almaty for the first time, A7-BEB flies over the eight FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022โ„ข stadiums in Doha

Qatar Airwaysโ€™ inaugural flight from Doha to Almaty in Kazakhstan landed at Almaty International Airport on Friday, November 19, 2021 (above), marking the launch of the airlineโ€™s newest gateway in Central Asia.

The new direct services to Almaty will be operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft.

In other news, Qatar Airways, Official Airline of FIFA, delivered a special fly-by above all eight FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022โ„ข stadiums with the iconic Winnerโ€™s Trophy and a special FIFA legend on board, as part of day-long festivities to mark one year until the much-awaited tournament.

The special Boeing 777-300 aircraft (A7-BEB) (below), painted with bespoke FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022โ„ข livery took center stage, carrying the Winnerโ€™s Trophy. Cafu, one of the most-capped players in Brazilโ€™s history, a FIFA World Cupโ„ขย winner in 1994 and 2002 and a Qatar Legacy Ambassador was there to witness the fly-by and share the excitement of countdown to the iconic event.

Qatar Airways unveils its first FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 aircraft

Qatar Airways, Official Partner and the Official Airline of FIFA, on November 20 unveiled a specially-branded Boeing 777-300 aircraft painted in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM livery, to mark two years to go until the tournament kicks off on November 21, 2022.

The bespoke aircraft, which features distinctive FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM branding was hand-painted to commemorate the airlineโ€™s partnership with FIFA. More aircraft in the Qatar Airways fleet will feature the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM livery and will visit several destinations in the network.

The Boeing 777-300ER (A7-BEB) entered service on November 21 operating flights QR095 and QR096 between Doha and Zurich and return (see below). The inaugural route of the bespoke aircraft further reiterates the airlineโ€™s commitment to the FIFA partnership by flying to the home of FIFA in Switzerland on this significant date.

In other news,ย Qatar Airways has also announced it will operate three weekly flights to Abuja, Nigeria via Lagos from November 27, 2020 becoming the sixth new destination announced by the national carrier of the State of Qatar since the start of the pandemic. The Abuja service will be operated by the airlineโ€™s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class.
