The airline will also start new service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Durango International Airport (DGO) in Mexico starting June 6, 2019. American will be the only U.S. carrier to serve DGO and SCU.

American will also add new service to some of its existing international destinations from DFW, MIA, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York.

Eurowings (Europe) Airbus A319-132 OE-LYY (msn 4256) PMI (Ton Jochems). Image: 943733.

Eurowings Europe, the chamber of commerce and the union Vida have finalized a collective agreement for the on-board employees of Eurowings Europe in Austria. The collective agreement will apply retroactively as of March 1, 2018.

In addition to a comprehensive package of additional benefits, the collective agreement has provisions for an increase in basic salary of up to 20 percent. Additional variable earnings of up to 25 percent of the basic salary are possible depending on output. Furthermore, pay-scale adjustments to the basic salary of two percent each have already been agreed upon for 2020 and 2021. For new hires in cockpit and cabin, professional experience that captains, first officers and pursers have gained with other airlines will be recognized.

โ€œWith these new compensation and employment conditions for pilots and flight attendants, we are one of the most attractive employers at the Vienna location,โ€ says Frank Bauer, Managing Director and Head of Human Resources at Eurowings Group. The collective agreement is also a clear signal to those who are looking for a new employer within the aviation sector. โ€œWe look forward to every application we receive for a cockpit or cabin position at Eurowings,โ€ says Bauer. โ€œWe were already an attractive employer in Austria and have become even more so with this collective agreement. I would like to thank our team for this: Eurowings Europeโ€™s Managing Directors Robert Jahn and Dieter Watzak-Helmer and Eurowingsโ€™ chief negotiator Benedikt Schneider.โ€

Robert Jahn and Benedikt Schneider emphasize that the provisions in the collective agreement reflect the high sense of social responsibility that Eurowings Europe has towards its employees. โ€œHammering out a future-oriented contract was our most important task over the past months โ€“ all negotiating parties have every reason to be proud of the result.โ€

Eurowings Europe also offers additional benefits in the context of the collective agreement:
โ€œThis includes, among other things, a mobility package and comprehensive coverage for employees in case they become unfit to fly โ€“ this will secure a better quality of life for our crews,โ€ says Dieter Watzak-Helmer.

The newly negotiated collective agreement also contains parameters for promotion within the company and creates transparent regulations for the various career options. Robert Jahn: โ€œComprehensive provisions for part-time work are also included in the contract.โ€

Counting the collective agreement for Austria, Eurowings Group has finalized 13 collective agreements with four unions in just one year. Eurowings Group Managing Director Frank Bauer: โ€œThis demonstrates the intention of management to ensure attractive and reliable working conditions for the companyโ€™s employees in cooperation with the relevant social partners.โ€

Spirit will offer high-speed web browsing and streaming options starting with an average price of $6.50, with a cost range expected to be lower or higher based on the route and demand.

Spiritโ€™s Commitment to Invest in the Guest
Spirit Wi-Fi is one of many improvements coming up for the airline, as part of its pledge to keep improving and Invest in the Guest.

โ€œWe understand that flying for as little money as possible is only part of our promise,โ€ said Christie. โ€œWe promise to go further. Weโ€™ll continue to listen to our Guests, and theyโ€™ll continue to see our dedication to improving service for them. Weโ€™ll keep adding exciting new destinations, improving our check-in process, frequent flier program and inflight experience, as well as continuing to dedicate ourselves to give back to the communities where we live and work.โ€

Christie introduced Spiritโ€™s Invest in the Guest pledge with the announcement of Wi-Fi installation.

โ€œOur promise is to keep going, to keep improving, and to invest in our Guests,โ€ said Christie as part of the pledge. โ€œWe intend to improve our Guestsโ€™ experience every chance we get.โ€
