Back to the Future: Nolinor has no problem leasing out its 10 veteran Boeing 737-200s to airlines with grounded 737 MAXs

Nolinor Aviation (Montreal) in the past years has expanded its veteran fleet of first generation Boeing 737-200s to 10.

It turned out to be a smart move.

The airline is finding itself in rising demand to fill in the schedule holes of other airlines due to the extended grounding of the new generation Boeing 737 MAX during the busy summer months.

Sometimes you have go back to the past for the future.

The airlines describes its 737-200 fleet:

Our Boeing 737-200 aircraft can accommodate up to 119 passengers in a full passenger configuration. The aircraft can also be configured to accommodate a combination of passengers and cargo or as a full cargo freighter. The Boeing 737-200 has a payload capability of 30,000 lbs. (13,600 kg) in all configurations.

We also provide operational flexibility for our clients as our aircraft are equipped to operate in and out of remote gravel strips, ice strips and short and narrow runways. The Boeing 737-200 offers the reliability, flexibility, payload, speed, comfort and range that each client can depend on for their specific charter requirements.

Nolinor Aviation becomes Agnico Eagle Minesโ€™ official air transporter in Nunavut with a 10-year agreement

Sarliaq Aviation, a Nunavut-based company, in partnership with Quebec transporter Nolinor Aviation, has signed a 10-year agreement with Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. to provide air transportation for employees and cargo from Montreal and Abitibi-Temiscamingue to the companyโ€™s mining projects in the Kivalliq region in Nunavut. The contract was secured through a rigorous bidding process, during which the partner companies demonstrated that they met the mining companyโ€™s extensive list of prerequisites for punctual and safe service.

โ€œSarliaq Aviation and Nolinor have worked together since 2010, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership through this new contract,โ€ said Silu Panniuq, president of Sarliaq Aviation. โ€œThis 10-year agreement will solidify the companyโ€™s future, ensure long-term employment and expand our service offer through Agnico Eagle.โ€

โ€œWe already provide employee and cargo transport for Agnico Eagleโ€™s Meadowbank open-pit gold mine, near Baker Lake. The new agreement will add flights to Rankin Inlet for their new mine, Meliadine, currently under construction. In all, Nolinor will provide 416 flights per year, or 8 flights per week, to Nunavut,โ€ explained Jacques Prudโ€™homme, president of Nolinor Aviation.
