Aircompany Armenia and Georgian Airlines order 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters

Boeing, Aircompany Armenia and its partner company Georgian Airlines, today announced an order for three 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) as part of the group’s plan to add more dedicated cargo airplanes to its operations in the Caucasus region.

The first 737-800BCF on order will be delivered next year, with deliveries continuing into 2024. The converted freighters will be operated by Georgian Airlines, which already operates one 737-800BCF.

The 737-800s will be modified at Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO) and at Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd. (STAECO) in China.

The 737-800BCF carries more payload – up to 23.9 tons (52,800 lbs.) – and flies farther – 3,750 km (2,025 nautical miles) compared to 737 Classic freighters. The 737-800BCF has won more than 250 orders and commitments from more than 20 customers.

Georgian Airways will resume its regular flights from July 1, 2020

Georgian Airways received a notification from GCAA on May 14, 2020 that previously published NOTAM regarding the restrictions for scheduled flights was amended by a new one, according to which the restrictions for scheduled flights were extended including June 30, 2020.

Georgian Airways will resume most of its scheduled flights from July 1, 2020 depending on the borders and health situation in different countries.

Georgian Airways now flies to Italy

Named "Batumi"

Georgian Airways on March 28 added a new route linking Tbilisi with Bologna. This is the first route to Italy by the carrier. The new route operates twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Georgian Airways to add flights to Athens and Thessaloniki

Georgian Airways is pleased to announce two new flight destinations – Athens and Thessaloniki.

Nonstop flights will be operated twice a week starting on March 26, 2018 with Embraer 190s.

Georgian Airways to add Cologne/Bonn and Lyon service from Yerevan

Georgian Airways (Tbilisi) has announced two new European routes starting in April from Yerevan.

Twice-weekly service from Yerevan to Lyon will commence on April 19 and twice-weekly Cologne/Bonn service will follow on April 24, 2018 according to Airline Route.

Nordic Aviation Capital delivers an Embraer 190 to Georgian Airways on lease

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) has announced it has delivered one Embraer E190 (msn 19000085) to Georgian Airways on lease.

Georgian Airways is the privately owned national carrier of Georgia. The airline operates domestic scheduled services from its headquarters in Tbilisi (Tbilisi – Batumi – Tbilisi) and international flights to destinations in Austria, Israel, Russia, Netherlands, Ukraine, London, Armenia and Czech Republic.

Airzena Georgian Airways to lease a Boeing 737-700 from ALC

Air Lease Corporation has announced the long term lease of one Boeing 737-700 jet aircraft (msn 33015) to Airzena Georgian Airways (Tbilisi, Georgia). The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in October, 2013.

Airzena Georgian Airways is the designated national airline of Georgia, operating extensive scheduled services to many destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Russia, with Boeing 737s and CRJ regional jets.

Georgian Airways is able to keep flying to Russia

Georgian Airways (Airzena) (Tbilisi) has won a three-month extension to operate charter flights between Tbilisi and Moscow until late 2011. Air service between the two countries resumed earlier this year.

The resumption follows the 2008 South Ossetia War or Russo-Georgian War. This short war was an armed conflict in August 2008 between Georgia and Russia and separatist governments of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Georgian Airways’ Bombardier CRJ100 4L-GAE crashes in the Congo while operating for the UN, 32 killed

Georgian Airways’ (Airzena Georgian Airways) (Tbilisi) Bombardier CRJ100 (CL-600-2B19) 4L-GAE (msn 7070) while operating for the United Nations (UN) as flight A9 834 from Kisangani to Kinshasa (N’Djili) in the Democratic Republic of Congo with 29 passengers and four crew, crashed while attempting to land in bad weather at Kinshasa (N’Djili) on April 4. The airliner missed the runway and came to a stop off the runway. Only one person survived with serious injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.
