OAG Data: Jet2.com was the only UK airline not to cancel a single flight during July and August

Jet2.com is touting its operating performance this summer with this report:

Jet2.com did not cancel a single flight during the busy summer month of August, the second month in a row that Jet2.com was the only UK airline not to make any cancellations. This comes from detailed flight data published by leading travel intelligence company OAG.

Despite operating thousands of flights and carrying millions of customers during the busy month of August, the data shows that Jet2.com operated every single flight. With OAG data showing that the airline did not cancel any flights in July either, it means that Jet2.com is the only UK airline to operate its full programme during the peak summer months of July and August without making cancellations.

The August data can be viewed here: https://www.oag.com/en/on-time-performance-airlines-august-2022?hsLang=en-gb

Back in May, Jet2.com kicked off its biggest ever summer program, with capacity increasing 14% compared to Summer 19. In addition, July saw the busiest weekend in the company’s history, when Jet2.com operated over 800 flights on the weekend of 23rd/24th July alone.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays took action to plan for travel reopening and the start of this busy summer season. By investing and proactively recruiting ahead of the bounce back, it has ensured that the companies have a very visible uniformed presence in place (referred to as the Red Team) in UK airports as well as in main overseas airports and in resorts.

This team, comprised of thousands of colleagues, are on hand making an enormous difference in terms of assisting and guiding customers throughout their journey. Commencing active recruitment in Autumn 2021 means that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have not made any cancellations due to staff shortages.

Having this dedicated team in place also means that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have operated an enormous programme of flights and holidays in July and August from ten bases across the UK, receiving positive feedback from many happy customers and independent travel agents.

Jet2 drops its mask requirement, adds more flights for the summer

"Jet2 Keflonia"

Jet2 (Jet2.com) has become the first U.K. airline to remove the mask requirement with this announcement:

“It’s no longer a legal requirement to wear a face mask at our airports or onboard our planes. However, as per UK Government guidance, we recommend that you continue to wear a face mask in these spaces, and you will need to wear one when you get to your overseas destination.”

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have responded to the strong demand for Spring and Easter holidays, by adding more flights and holidays to six popular destinations across Mainland Spain, the Canaries, the Balearics and Portugal (Faro).

The leading leisure airline and UK’s leading tour operator to many destinations across the Mediterranean and Canary Islands have added over 80 new flights to AlicanteMalagaTenerifeLanzaroteMajorca and Faro (Algarve) representing over 15,000 additional seats on sale for Spring and Easter.

With the UK and overseas governments loosening travel restrictions and removing testing requirements in recent weeks, international travel is starting to look like it did before the pandemic. Jet2.com orders 15 additional Airbus A321neos, taking total order to 51

Jet2.com has placed a further order for 15 A321neos following its initial one for 36 placed in August 2021. It takes the total order by the Leeds, United Kingdom, based airline to 51 A321neos. The two orders reflect Jet2.com’s ambitious fleet expansion and renewal plans. Engine selection will be made at a later date.

The aircraft will be configured for 232 seats with an Airspace cabin featuring innovative lighting, new seating products and 60 percent larger overhead baggage bins for added personal storage.

Jet2.com adds more capacity to Green List destinations

Jet2.com and its Jet2holidays package division are trying to react to the changes made to the UK’s travel list due to COVID-19. The airline has cut back on flights to destinations that suddenly change from Green to Amber List status.

Meanwhile when a country goes green the airline adds flights. Croatia and Bulgaria have been added to the UK’s Green List for travel.

As a result, Jet2.com is adding two new routes to Bourgas (Bulgaria) from Glasgow and Leeds-Bradford for the summer.

The airline will add add additional summer service to Dubrovnik (from Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, London Stansted and Newcastle) and Split (Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted).

International travel everywhere remains fluid as COVID-19 cases ebb and flow.
