Kuwait Airways to be privatized, will add 20-21 new aircraft in the next two years

Kuwait Airways (Kuwait City) is going to be privatized by the state of Kuwait. According to the Kuwait Times, the National Assembly has approved an Amiri decree to convert Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) into a shareholding company. The newly-reorganized Kuwait Airways intends to purchase 20 or 21 new aircraft within the next two years according to the report.

Kuwait Airways fleet now comprises three Airbus A320-200s, three A310-300s, five A300-600s, four A340-300s and two Boeing Boeing 777-200s (17 aircraft total).

Kuwait Airways to drop Geneva on September 15

Kuwait Airways (Kuwait City) is planning to drop Geneva on September 15 per Airline Route. The airline recently added Abu Dhabi and Muscat on July 29.

Kuwait Airways (Kuwait City) resumed operations last night after the striking workers returned to work. The unions stated they made their point according to this report by Bloomberg Businessweek.

Strikes cripple Kuwait Airways

Kuwait Airways (Kuwait Airways Corporation) (Kuwait City) is suffering through another day of strikes. 14 flights were cancelled yesterday according to this report by the Arab Times. KAC’s employees have been striking since Saturday (March 17) demanding a 30 percent increase in wages, although the company has already offered a 25 percent increase! Striking employees, which are state employees, are permitting other foreign carriers to operate into and out of the country. KAC is the state airline of Kuwait.

Kuwait Airways (Kuwait City) is looking for a new strategic airline investor. The flag carrier is now willing to sell 35 percent of its shares to attract a successful partner. Bids are due by August 25.
