Everts Air Cargo orders two DC-9-83 (MD-83) freighter conversions

Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) hasย announced theย company has signed a contract to provide Fairbanks, Alaska-based Everts Air Cargo with two McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83 (MD-83) series freighter conversions. The first MD-83 (msn 53471) will commence modificationย on April 4, 2018 and will be re-delivered in the beginning of August 2018.

Immediately following,ย the second DC-9-83 (msn TBD) modification will commence, and is scheduled for re-delivery toย Everts in December 2018. Both modifications will be performed by Commercial Jetโ€™s Dothan,Alabama facility.

Everts will use the freighters to replace and augment their existing fleet of DC-9ย aircraft.

The AEI freighters shall provide Everts Air Cargo with an Ancra CLS capable of carrying: โ€ข (12) 88โ€ x 108โ€ Containers/Pallets, P1 to P12.

Is American Airlines’ CEO panicking?

American Airlines‘ (Dallas/Fort Worth) current CEO Tom Horton is going on a media offensive in the on-going “war of words” with US Airways’ CEO Doug Parker about a possible merger between the airlines. As we previously reported, Horton has stated he started the merger conversation with Parker.

Now columnist Mitchell Schnurman of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is raising the question of whether Horton is panicking? Is this the fight for the future CEO position of a merged American Airlines?
