Primera Air to cease operations tonight

Primera Air (Scandinavia) issued this statement:

 

Primera Air and the IATA codes of PF (Primera Air Scandinavia) and 6F (Primera Air Nordic) have been suspended as of midnight (October 2, 2018).

On behalf of Primera Air team, we would like to thank you for your loyalty. On this sad day we are saying Goodbye to all of you.

Tour Operator passengers are kindly suggested to address their Tour Operators and Agents for further information and actions.

Kindly understand that the usual options for contacts (via email or phone) can not be offered any longer.

The growing airline had big plans for transatlantic low-cost flights.

The airline is filing for bankruptcy after it was unable to reach an agreement with its bank for this aggressive expansion. Operations will cease tonight at midnight.

Primera Air to add new routes from Frankfurt to North America

Primera Air has announced a new North American-European gateway: Frankfurt for next summer.

From New York, Primera Air will be flying to these major cities in Europe next summer:

The carrier will start Boeing 737-9 MAX 9 service from FRA to:

Boston – 4 weekly flights starting on July 17, 2019

Montreal (Trudeau) – 3 weekly flights starting on July 16, 2019

New York (JFK) – daily flights starting on June 16, 2019

Toronto (Pearson) – daily flights starting on June 21, 2019

Primera Air announces new trans-Atlantic routes from Berlin

Primera Air has announced another new trans-Atlantic destinatination – Berlin.

Flights to New York (JFK), Boston and Toronto will start in June 2019.

New York (JFK) daily starting on June 7, 2019

Boston four days a week starting on June 9, 2019

Toronto (Pearson) three days a week starting on June 10, 2019

All flights will be operated with the new Boeing 737-9 MAX 9 aircraft.

Primera Air to add three U.S. routes from Brussels next summer

Primera Air is planning to add three new trans-Atlantic routes from Brussels. The carrier will launch the following routes for the summer 2019 season:

Boston – four weekly flights starting on June 4, 2019

Newark – daily flights starting on May 9, 2019

Washington (Dulles) – three weekly flights starting on June 2, 2019

According to Airline Route, the new routes will be operated with new 189-seat Boeing 737-9 MAX 9 aircraft.

Primera Air previously announced an order for eight 737 MAX 9 airplanes, valued at more than $950 million at list prices. The agreement also includes purchase rights for four additional 737 MAX 9s and a lease agreement for eight more airplanes from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).

The 737 MAX 9 will form the backbone of the low-cost airline’s future for flights between Europe and North America. Primera Air plans to use the MAX 9’s auxiliary fuel tanks to lower trip costs and maximize the range to accommodate flights connecting Europe to the east coast of the U.S.

Primera Air to start new service to Newark and Boston using leased Boeing 757s

Primera Air previously announced the opening of three new departure points in Europe: London (Stansted, STN), Paris (Charles de Gaulle, CDG) and Birmingham (BHX) for flights to Newark and Boston starting in April 2018.

According to Airline Route, Primera Air will commence the London (Stansted) – Newark route on April 19. This will be followed by London (Stansted) – Boston service starting on May 18.

Primera Air is planning to wet lease Boeing 757 aircraft from Thomas Cook for the new routes due to delivery delays of the new Airbus A321neo aircraft.

 

 

Primera Air expands in the UK with seven new flights and the addition of Manchester

Primera Air will start nonstop transatlantic flights from London Stansted (STN) and Birmingham (BHX) to Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), Washington-Dulles (IAD) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) as the company continues its expansion with extended flights from Birmingham to North America and adding a Manchester – Malaga route.

Primera Air is opening a new base in Malaga (AGP) and will operate winter flights to Birmingham and Manchester.

The Nordic airline is also opening new winter routes from London Stansted to Tenerife and Alicante as well as new routes from Birmingham to Alicante, Tenerife, Las Palmas and Keflavik (Reykjavik).

In addition, Primera Air is extending its Birmingham – Newark and Birmingham – Toronto flight schedule through November.

As previously announced, Primera Air is opening new bases in Birmingham (BHX), London Stansted (STN) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to commence flights to Newark, Boston, Washington DC and Toronto this April, along with new routes from UK to Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Barcelona and Chania.

Within the next two years Primera Air plans to increase its presence at its current bases and to add new transatlantic routes and bases as it has 20 new Boeing 737-9 MAX 9s on order.

Primera Air has a record year as it prepares to launch new transatlantic routes

2017 was a record year for Primera Air – the airline has carried more than 1 million passengers with a total number of 1,017,657. Direct sales on the website have grown a staggering 125.8% and the Company’s revenue has increased by 13.7% compared to 2016. All figures have been reached with a consistent load factor of 85%.

Primera Air is opening new bases in Birmingham (BHX), London Stansted (STN) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to commence flights to New York, Boston and Toronto in April, along with new routes from the UK to Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Barcelona and Chania.

In the next two years, Primera Air plans to increase its presence at its current bases and to add new transatlantic routes and bases, as the airline has 20 new Boeing 737-9 MAX 9s on order (above).

Primera Air is a scheduled carrier serving flights to more than 70 destinations in Europe. The airline is based in Denmark and Latvia and is part of the Primera Travel Group, which includes travel agencies and tour operators in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia.

Primera Air increases its order for the new Boeing 737-9 MAX 9

In May 2017 Primera Air announced an order for eight Boeing 737 MAX 9 airplanes, valued at more than $950 million at list prices. The agreement also included purchase rights for four additional 737 MAX 9s and a lease agreement for eight more airplanes from Air Lease Corporation.

Primera Air has now converted two options and now has 10 firm copies on order.

The 737 MAX 9 will form the backbone of the low-cost airline’s future as it seeks to commence flights between Europe and North America. Primera Air plans to use the MAX 9’s auxiliary fuel tanks to lower trip costs and maximize the range to accommodate flights connecting Europe to the east coast of the U.S.

Primera Air is an all-Boeing carrier currently operating a fleet of nine Next-Generation 737-700s and 737-800s with flights to more than 70 airports in Europe. Primera Air is part of the Primera Travel Group that operates travel agencies and tour operating companies in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia.

Primera Air will be the launch customer of the new Boeing 737-9 MAX 9.

Primera Air to fly to Canada

Primera Air has secured service rights to Canada. The carrier is planning to operate Airbus A321LR aircraft from Birmingham (June 23, 2018), London (Stansted) (May 19, 2018) and Paris (CDG) (June 22, 2018) to Toronto (Pearson) per Airline Route.
