Tailwind Airlines starts operations in Turkey

Tailwind Airlines (Istanbul) received its AOC on May 12, 2009 and commenced scheduled and charter services with three ex-Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-4Q8s (TC-TLA, TC-TLB and TC-TLC). The new airline is serving Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Istanbul and Izmir in Turkey and also Tehran and Tel Aviv. In July it will be flying an expanded schedule to Europe including Amsterdam, Bilbao and Madrid.

Transavia Airlines (Transavia.com) (Amsterdam) has leased two Boeing 737-800s (PR-GIB and PR-GIC) from Gol Transportes Aereos (Sao Paulo) for the summer season. Both aircraft will be repainted.

Sun Country to start DFW-Branson on May 11

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) will also start Dallas/Fort Worth jet service to Branson, MO on May 11 besides the previously announced MSP-Branson flights. Branson is the first privately developed and operated commercial service airport in the United States. The new airport will also open on May 11.

Delta unveils its first SkyTeam logojet

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) on March 30 rolled out at Atlanta its first SkyTeam logojet. Boeing 767-432 ER N844MH (msn 29717) went promptly into service as flight DL 176 to Dublin on the same day. Each SkyTeam member is expected to have a SkyTeam plane painted by the end of the year.

Ryanair’s EI-CST to go to CanJet Airlines

Ryanair’s (Dublin) Boeing 737-8AS EI-CST (msn 29933) has been retired and it is now going to CanJet Airlines (2nd) (Halifax). This airliner was repainted at Amsterdam and was ferried to Lasham on March 19 for further work before delivery.
