Arik Air adds Ilorin, service to Lagos and Abuja

Arik Air (Arik Wings of Nigeria) (Lagos) will add Ilorin in Nigeria on October 25 with domestic service to both Lagos and Abuja.

Allegiant Air is still making money

Allegiant Air (Allegiant Travel Company) (Las Vegas) is one of a handful of U.S. airlines still making money. The organization reported net income of $13.8 million in the third quarter. This is up from a previous profit of $4.9 million in the same quarter a year ago.

Arkefly (TUI Airlines Nederland) (Amsterdam) will fly a weekly service between Amsterdam and Kathmandu with Boeing 737-800s.

JAL-Japan Airlines (Tokyo-Haneda) is seeking around $550 million from Delta Air Lines for a minority share in the Japanese carrier according to published reports. SkyTeam partners Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines may also buy a share. JAL desperately needs a capital infusion. Since it is part of the Oneworld Alliance it may also approach American Airlines to counter bid the Delta offer.

Sky Work Airlines to operate Berne-Rotterdam

Sky Work Airlines (Berne) will operate a scheduled weekly and seasonal service between Berne and Rotterdam from December 19 through April 10, 2010 every Saturday. The scheduled route will be operated with its single Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400).

Singapore Airlines (Singapore) reported a net loss of $213 million in the quarter ending on June 30. If this trend continues it could report its first yearly loss since it was listed in 1985.
