Western Air is coming to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood

Western Air will add the Nassau – Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood route on May 19.

The new route will be operated with Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets.

The airline was established in 2001. Operations started in November 2001.

Today, Western Air is the largest privately owned airline in the Bahamas offering daily scheduled flights between Nassau, Freeport, Congo Town, Bimini and San Andros, as well as on- demand charter flights throughout the greater Bahamas, Caribbean, Central and South America. The airline employs over 140 employees.

Western Air (Bahamas) to start scheduled passenger service to Jamaica in April

Western Air (Bahamas) (San Andros) will add new scheduled passenger service between Nassau and Kingston on April 12 and Nassau and Montego Bay on April 30. The new Jamaican routes will be flown by SAAB 340A turboprops.

The company (the name comes from being based in the western part of the Bahamas) was established in 2001ย by Rex and Shandrice Rolle, currently the President and CEO and vice president and COO, respectively.

The little-known airline actually has more aircraft than Bahamasair ย which makes it the Bahamas’ย largest airline in fleet size, flying regularly between Andros Town, San Andros, Congo Town and Mangrove Cayย on Andros, and also to ย Freeport, Nassau, Bimini, Exuma and Abaco andย international destinations like Haiti and now Jamaica.
