American starts to take 737-800 deliveries again

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) has taken delivery of two new Boeing 737-823s (N979AN, msn 29568 and N980AN, msn 33203) for the Chicago (O’Hare) hub replacing older and less fuel efficient McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83s (MD-83s). This is the first 737 delivery since December 2001 and first two of 76 new Boeing 737-823s to be delivered through the first quarter of 2011. The two new aircraft will join the current 77 737-823s.
