JetBlue Airways adds Anchorage today from Long Beach

JetBlue Airways (New York) today (May 23) adds its 65th BlueCity: Anchorage, Alaska. The carrier is now offering seasonal daily nonstop service from Long Beach Airport to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), the northernmost city in JetBlue’s expanding route network.

Customers in Long Beach today will be met with several surprises, including the attendance of Miss Alaska, Anchorage mascot Seymour the Moose, and moose antlers for those joining JetBlue on the inaugural flight. Upon arrival in Anchorage, traditional sled dogs will pull the first luggage off the plane in a nod to the carrier’s first-bag free policy, and Mr. St. George will deplane donning a traditional Alaskan parka. Customers and guests alike will be greeted by Native Alaskan dancers and music, a podium composed of glacial ice, and light fare from local celebrity chef Al Levinson of Norton Sound.
