Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) announced today that Gogo® Inflight Internet service is now available on nearly all aircraft in its fleet. With the installation of the service scheduled for completion later this month, Alaska’s fleet will be 92 percent Wi-Fi equipped, which includes its 737-800 and –900 aircraft flying predominantly longer routes. Only seven of the airline’s 117 Boeing 737s will not offer Wi-Fi, including its freighter and combi (part-passenger/part-freight) aircraft and three 737-400s.
Aircraft equipped with inflight Internet service have a Wi-Fi symbol located outside the aircraft’s boarding door and information in seatback pockets. Gogo is available above 10,000 feet, following an announcement approving the use of portable electronic devices.
