Air Malta is facing a strike by its pilots

Air Malta Airbus A319-111 9H-AEL (msn 2332) LGW (Antony J. Best), originally uploaded by Airliners Gallery.

Air Malta (Malta) is facing a strike this weekend. Air Malta’s pilots, represented by ALPA, are protesting over the plans to dismiss as many as 57 pilots as part of the restructuring program. Air Malta has stated it will cut 511 workers.

ALPA has given notice of suspension of service to the Director of Employment and Industrial Relations. A strike by the pilots could begin on July 16, 2011.
