Virgin Atlantic makes a new bid for BMI

Lufthansa (Frankfurt) today (December 12) confirmed Virgin Atlantic Airways has made a new bid for BMI (British Midland International) according to this report by the New York Times. The new bid now raises the stakes with the IAG for the valuable takeoff and landing slots at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The move comes a month after the International Airlines Group (British Airways and Iberia) announced that it had reached a preliminary agreement with Lufthansa to acquire BMI.

Stay tuned. This deal is not done yet.
