The company is planning three flights a week from Christchurch to Rarotonga and three from Wellington each week.
The start-up was originally called “JetRaro”. It was rebranded as Pasifika Air this month.
In July 2020, Christchurch businessman Mike Pero announced his intention to form an airline serving the route between Christchurch and the Cook Islands following the lifting of border restrictions.
The company plans to lease Boeing 737-800s from Virgin Australia, and to conduct flights from Wellington as well as Christchurch.
The upstart has begun the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) process.
The new entity expects to begin flights in May 2021.
