Russian Technologies selects Boeing

Russian Technologies (Moscow), the parent of the prospective Rosavia, has announced its intent for a tentative order with Boeing (Chicago, Seattle, Wichita and Charleston) for up to 65 planes (types to be determined) according to this report by Reuters.

Russian Technologies has a reported deal with Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) to buy the aircraft and lease the aircraft to the flag carrier. Oddly Aeroflot has been adding Airbus equipment, but will consider the offer.

It is unclear if the aircraft will also be operated for the planned Rosavia. Rosaviaย was going to be a Russian state-owned airline, formed from several airlines bankrupted by high oil prices.ย The new airline was to have been Russiaโ€™s largest airline with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft.

The fleet was to due to include the aircraft of KrasAir, Domodedovo Airlines, Samara Airlines and Atlant-Soyuz Airlines. Rosavia would have also merged the following state-controlled carriers: Rossiya, Orenair, Kavminvodyavoa, Vladivostok Air, Dalavia and Saravia.

Aeroflot was due to merge the assets of Rosavia.
