airBaltic starts flights from Tampere to Amsterdam

airBaltic has launched direct flights between Tampere and Amsterdam, Netherlands on June 1, 2022. airBaltic now connects both cities with two weekly flights.

airBaltic performs direct flights from Tampere to Oslo (Norway) and Copenhagen (Denmark), Frankfurt, Munich (both Germany) and Amsterdam (Netherlands) as well as sunny leisure destinations Malaga (Spain) and Rhodes (Greece) in addition to continuing flights to Riga (Latvia).

airBaltic announces its top summer destinations

airBaltic has announced that the top destinations of the season are Dubrovnik, Pisa, and Thessaloniki.

Highlights of the season also include flights to Madrid, Venice, Naples, Santorini and Malta among many others.

airBaltic starts to hire 120 pilots, passenger traffic up 4x in April

airBaltic has made this announcement:

In line with the gradual recovery of the aviation market, Latvian airline airBaltic announces that it has started recruitment of a total of 120 additional pilots, including graduates of the airBaltic Pilot Academy.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer ofย airBaltic: โ€œWhile we continue to employ our airBaltic Pilot Academy graduates and rehire former employees, this time our needs for additional staff reach further, meaning that we are looking for external pilots to join our company. Additional pilots are required to prepare the airline for capacity we will fly in summer 2023.โ€

Candidates must have EU citizenship, valid EU FCL CPL or ATPL license (EASA form 141), and have at least 300 hours of Commercial Air Transport (CAT) operations on aircraft with EFIS, FMA and FMS systems โ€“ MTOW of the aircraft at least 5.7 tonnes. airBaltic currently employs 315 pilots. The company is continuing active recruitment, and currently has more than 40 open vacancies, seeking more than 400 additional employees in total.

During April 2022, Latvian airline airBaltic has carried 244 000 passengers โ€“ almost four times more than during the same period last year. In April 2022, airBaltic performed 3 150 flights.

airBaltic reopens cargo operations from Kyiv, A220 on tour around Asia

airBaltic hasย announced that in cooperation with UkrPoshta it has organized a multimodal mail transportation system and thus reopened cargo operations from Kyiv, Ukraine.

First mail shipment from Kyiv arrived in Riga on April 12. Since then the company has handled more than 7 000 mail bags from Ukraine with a total weight of over 50 tons.

In other news,ย airBaltic isย participating in an aircraft manufacturer Airbusโ€™ย demonstration tour around the Asia-Pacific region showcasing its latest A220-300 aircraft. During the tour, airBalticโ€™s A220-300 will visit a total of four destinations in the region.

The first three stops of the tour were Sydney, Australia, Singapore and Hanoi, Vietnam. The aircraft will then visit Tokyo, Japan. At each stop, invited guests are welcome to tour the aircraft, attend product briefings by Airbus executives, as well as take part in a short demo flight.

Thus far, airBaltic has carried nearly 8 000 000 passengers on the Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Airbus A220-300โ€™s have completed more than 92 000 flights and flown over 200 000 block hours.

Since May 2020, airBaltic operates all its flights with a single aircraft type โ€“ Airbus A220-300, thus minimizing the complexity and benefiting from the additional efficiency provided by the aircraft. The airlineโ€™s fleet now consists of 34 A220-300 aircraft with six more planned to join in 2022.

The Airbus A220-300 has performed beyond the companyโ€™s expectations, delivering better overall performance, fuel efficiency and convenience for both passengers and the staff. This aircraft offers an excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories and much more.

The Airbus A220-300ย has a high-quality air filtering system equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) type filter that provides the best level of filtration currently available for recirculated cabin air from the very beginning of boarding, during entire flight and until all passengers have left the aircraft. The quality of cabin air is carefully controlled and is recirculated with ventilation rates that provide a total change of air 20-30 times per hour.

airBaltic wet leases one Ukraine International Airlines aircraft

airBaltic has announced that it has agreed to wet lease one Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-900ERย aircraft. Aircraft and its crew started performing flights within airBalticย network short term starting on May 1, 2022.

airBaltic has chosen to wet lease additional aircraft short term due to impact caused by the global supply chain issues. Such a decision enables the company to ensure its planned flight schedule.

airBaltic has welcomed its 34th Airbus A220-300 (YL-ABH) to its fleet.

This is the second of eight planned Airbus aircraft deliveries in 2022.

During March 2022, Latvian airlineย airBalticย has carried 161 100 passengers โ€“ almost five times more than during the same period last year. In March 2022,ย airBalticย performed 2 380 flights.
