Sun Country Airlines receives a judicial approval for its plan to exit bankruptcy protection

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) yesterday (September 10) announced the confirmation of its plan of reorganization which allows the company to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The plan was confirmed by Judge Robert J. Kressel during a court hearing on September 10 in Minneapolis and was overwhelmingly approved by the creditors eligible to vote. The plan provides for cash payments to certain creditors, as well as a distribution of equity in the reorganized company to other creditors.

Sun Country Airlines to begin Lansing service

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) announced today (June 30) plans for new nonstop domestic and international service from Lansingโ€™s Capital Region International Airport. Beginning December 22, 2010, the company will inaugurate domestic service to Las Vegas, Ft. Myers and Orlando as well as international service to Cancun, Mexico and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Sun Country Airlines completes first Boeing 737-800 charter flight to Hawaii

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) on Tuesday (June 22) conducted its first trans-Pacific flight in charter service from Phoenix to Honolulu. Touching down in Hawaii the Boeing 737-800 crew were greeted with a traditional gift of Hawaiian Leis welcoming Sun Country to the 50th state.

Sun Country operated the flights in scheduled and charter service utilizing procedures and equipment specifically designated for Extended-range Twin-engine Operations Performance (ETOPs).

As previously reported, Sun Country flew its first trans-Atlantic trip in scheduled service from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Londonโ€™s Stansted airport on June 11. The one-stop seasonal service will operate weekly through August 15 between the Twin Cities and London with Boeing 737-800s.

Sun Country Airlines leases Boeing 737-7Q8 PR-GOU

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) has leased this former Gol Transportes Aereos Boeing 737-7Q8 (msn 28219) from ILFC. The aircraft is now fully painted but passed through Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood on June 9 with the PR-GOU registration and Brazilian flag!

Sun Country Airlines now flies to London with Boeing 737s

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul), as planned, started flying weekly charter flights to London (Stansted) via Gander on Friday (June 11). The flights will operate with its Boeing 737-800s through August 15.

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) inaugurated nonstop service between Austin, TX, and Cancun, Mexico yesterday (June 2).

Austin-Cancun nonstop service will be offered twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.ย  Flights will depart Austin at 1:50 p.m. (1350) and will arrive in Cancun at 4:10 p.m. (1610). ย From Cancun, flights will depart at 10:30 a.m. (1030) and will arrive in Austin at 12:50 p.m. ย (1250). The Austin-Cancun nonstop service will be offered through August 7, 2010.

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) today (March 16) announced new international service between the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul and London. The new flights will operate weekly from June 11 through August 15 departing the Twin Cities on Fridays with a midday return from London-Stansted airport on Sundays. The seasonal service will operate with an intermediate stop (Gander?) and offer both first class and coach seating on Sun Countryโ€™sย Boeingย 737-800 aircraft.

Sun Country offers 10 unlimited travel awards

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) in order to boost travel during this slow period will award 10 winners unlimited travel for one year. Passengers must book a flight before September 13 to be eligible for the drawing.
