Jazeera Airways signs MOU for Airbus 20 A320neos and eight A321neos.

Airbus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jazeera Airways, the Kuwait-based carrier, for 20 A320neos and eight A321neos.

Jazeera Airways commenced operations in 2005 and has since emerged as a leading carrier in the region. It is operating regionally and internationally serving Middle East, Europe and Asiaโ€™s top destinations from its home base Kuwait. The Kuwaiti airline supports the countryโ€™s 2035 vision to further economic expansion and transformation into a commercial hub.

Sky One FZE purchases three 777-300s from Boeing Capital Corporation

Boeingโ€™s wholly owned subsidiary Boeing Capital Corporation and Sky One FZE today announced a sales agreement for three 777-300 airplanes at the Dubai Airshow. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Sky One FZE is a privately held aircraft leasing company based in the United Arab Emirates. Sky One FZE has a diverse business portfolio, namely dry and wet leasing, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul services, pilot training, operations, Air Operatorโ€™s Certificate management as well as spares and logistics. The firm has a strong focus on growing airlines in Africa, the Commonwealth of Independent States and India.

Air Tanzania orders a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, a 767-300 Freighter and two 737 MAX jets

Boeing and the United Republic of Tanzania have announced an order for a 787-8 Dreamliner, a 767-300 Freighter and two 737 MAX jets at the 2021 Dubai Airshow. The airplanes will be operated by Air Tanzania, the national flag-carrier of Tanzania, to expand service from the country to new markets acrossย Africa,ย Asiaย andย Europe.

The order, valued at more thanย $726 millionย at list prices, was previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website.

Based in Dar es Salaam, the carrier will expand its current fleet of 787s, leveraging the new 737s for its regional network and the 767 Freighter to capitalize onย Africa’sย burgeoning cargo demand.

Spirit Airlines is giving away ‘Spiritaneous’ flights at MIA to celebrate 19 new routes

Florida’s Hometown Airline is givingย South Floridaย travelers the gift of Moreย Goย following its initial entry intoย Miamiย International Airport (MIA) in October.ย Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) will launch many more nonstop routes from MIA this week, gradually increasing to a total of 31 destinations served from MIA. To celebrate, Spirit is bringing back “Spiritaneous” — a giveaway named after the spontaneous trip participants take immediately after winning.

LATAM Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines expand codeshare agreement

LATAM Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines announced the expansion of their codeshare agreements today, which will allow their customers to access more than 20 international routes between the United States and South America, along with connections to domestic and intra-continental destinations. It will also allow LATAM Airlines Group to add eight new international routes operated by Delta between South America and the U.S., and 11 domestic destinations in the U.S. from Atlanta. Delta will add 12 international routes operated by LATAM Airlines Group between South America and the U.S., connecting from Miami, Orlando, New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX); as well as seven interregional routes in South America, and four new domestic destinations in Chile.

This announcement will benefit customers with more connections between both regions: more than 40 destinations in South America, including domestic routes in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; routes within South America, between South America and the U.S.; and more than 70 domestic routes within the U.S. Additionally, Delta Air Lines and LATAM will complement their existing codeshare network in the coming months with new routes to Delta destinations in the U.S., and between the U.S. and Canada.

The agreement between LATAM and Delta currently allows LATAM Passยฎ and SkyMilesยฎ members to accumulate miles/points in their respective frequent flyer programs, including priority boarding, extra baggage check-in, and VIP lounge access for select categories. Customers will be able to easily connect between Delta and LATAM flights at airports where the airlines have relocated to the same terminal. This includes Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York), Terminal 3 at Guarulhos Airport in Sรฃo Paulo and soon Terminal 2 at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago, Chile.

Swoop announces a major expansion at Edmonton

Today, Swoop,ย Canada’sย leading ultra-low fare airline, reaffirmed its commitment to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region with the announcement of new service to one U.S. and eight domestic destinations from its Western Canadian base. The airline’s significant new investments were celebrated this morning alongside the unveiling of Swoop’s newest aircraft, which will fly with the name #Edmonton.

The airline’s growth will see Swoop’s flight capacity inย Alberta’sย capital increase 76% compared to pre-pandemic levels, supporting the creation of 140 additional direct and spin-off jobs and an anticipatedย $120Mย of economic output activityi in 2022.

New non-stop flights to eight Canadian citiesย 

The addition of eight new Canadian destinations to Swoop’s summer schedule will see non-stop service fromย Edmontonย toย Charlottetown,ย Comox,ย Halifax,ย Kelowna,ย Moncton,ย Ottawa,ย Reginaย andย Saskatoon. Swoop will be the first carrier to bring non-stop connectivity fromย Edmontonย International Airport toย Charlottetownย andย Monctonย and the airline’s summer schedule will also see the restoration of service toย London, Ont.

British Airways resumes London Gatwick – Tampa flights

British Airways made this announcement:

  • British Airwaysโ€™ first transatlantic flightย from Gatwick since the start of the pandemic takes offย to Tampa, followed by Orlando
  • British Airways will operate to more US airports than any other transatlantic carrier
  • The airline is also set to add Dallas to its A380 route network at Heathrow from March 27, 2022

Following the recent reopening of US borders for Brits, British Airwaysโ€™ first transatlantic flight from Gatwick took off today bound for Tampa, Florida.

The airlineโ€™s services to Tampa will operate three times a week. British Airways will also resume flights from Gatwick to popular family holiday-hotspot Orlando on Friday, November 19. This is the first time the airline has operated to these destinations, and to the US from Gatwick, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.

British Airways is planning on operating to 23 US airports this winter, more than any other transatlantic carrier, with 246 flights a week from January. As well as Tampa and Orlando from Gatwick, flights to much loved cities Nashville and New Orleans will restart in December from Heathrow.

The airlineโ€™s A380s will also touch down in the US once again, with the jumbo jet due to start operating to Miami from Heathrow from December 5, Los Angeles from December 9 and Dallas/Fort Worth from March 27.

ANA to launch aircraft featuring characters from Anime “Demon Slayer”

  • The campaign starting from Dec. 1 will include aircraft sporting livery inspired by the TV animation series. The special jet will be in service from late January, 2022, as we plan to introduce 2 aircraft within this fiscal year.
  • โ€ข Domestic flights will feature limited edition Demon Slayer cups and toys, while episodes of the show will be offered as in-flight entertainment on both domestic/international flights.
  • โ€ข A lottery to win special collaboration goods will be introduced for customers traveling on domestic flights and scenic flights will be introduced as well.

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest and 5-Star airline for nine consecutive years will feature the art and characters of the anime TV series “Demon Slayer” through a special limited promotion. In addition to a specially painted aircraft depicting characters from the show, domestic flights will offer Demon Slayer-themed paper cups and special paper toys for children. As part of the collaboration, planned for one year beginning from Dec. 1, 2021, episodes of the show will also be available as in-flight entertainment on domestic and international flights.
“We are excited to partner with Demon Slayer to generate excitement and share Japanese culture with a wider audience,” said Junko Yazawa, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience Management & Planning of ANA. “At ANA, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the travel experience, whether that be through the expansion of our award-winning service, the extension of our hygiene protocols or new entertainment experiences. We are confident that when our Demon Slayer-themed aircraft enter service in January 2022, they will offer a unique flight experience.”

    The special livery will be on the B767-300ER (aircraft number: JA616A) aircraft, and to commemorate this special collaboration, the design will feature the characters of the anime. In-flight services include a limited edition headrest cover and aprons for the cabin attendants, and unique in-flight announcements by the characters. While the design and aircraft type is yet to be decided, a second jet will enter service within this fiscal year. A scenic flight is also planned for the future as well.

    On domestic flights (economy class only), specially designed cups and paper toys (18 varieties) for children will be rolled out.

From October 16, 2020, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train” which is the continuation of the TV animation was released as a theatrical animation, and from December 5, 2021, the new TV animation series will be broadcast.

Overland Airways orders three new Embraer E175s

Embraer has announced today, at the Dubai Air Show, a firm order for three new E175, plus three purchase rights for the same model of aircraft, with Overland Airways, from Nigeria. The 88-seat aircraft, with premium class cabin configuration, will be delivered from 2023. The deal is worth atย USD 299.4 million, at list price with all purchase rights being exercised.

Overland Airways operates fromย Nigeriaย acrossย West Africaย providing scheduled and charter flight services. The Airline commenced flights in 2002 with the aim of increasing the prosperity of the Nigerian hinterland by providing seamless and reliable air transportation of business and leisure travelers and interconnecting hub cities and remote economies. The Airline is IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certified, and Member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)โ€š the association of leading global airlines that control over 83% of scheduled global traffic.

Air Corsica orders five new ATR 72-600 aircraft

Air Corsica, Corsicaโ€™s leading airline, and ATR, the worldโ€™s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, announced a firm order for five new ATR 72-600 aircraft to be powered by the new Pratt & Whitney Canada engine, the PW127XT, also announced today. Deliveries will start by November 2022.

The order means a full upgrade of Air Corsicaโ€™s ATR 72 fleet.

Air Corsica has a current fleet of 12 aircraft: five ATR 72-500, one ATR 42-600 and six Airbus A320, including two new generation A320neo.
