Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) on November 17 at its SEA base unveiled “Apolo One” with a photo decal image of U.S. speed skater Apolo Ohno applied to its Boeing 737-890 N596AS (msn 35688).
The company has also created a website to follow Apolo’s activities leading up to and including the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC.

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) yesterday (November 9) launched four-times-weekly service between Oakland and Kahului (Maui) with Boeing 737-800s. Today the company will start thrice-weekly flights between OAK and Kona (Big Island).

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) was forced yesterday to totally shut down all flights in and out of Anchorage due to ash from Mount Redoubt. AS hopes to reopen ANC this morning if the ash cloud moves away.

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) has suspended all flights north of Anchorage due to the eruption of Mount Redoubt on March 23 and the airborne volcanic ash which can cause engine failures. The cities impacted include Barrow, Bethel, Fairbanks, Kotzebue, Nome and Prudhoe Bay. So far, 45 flights have been cancelled.
