Air Arabia Maroc to fly from Marrakech to Bergamo, Italy

Air Arabia Maroc (airarabia.com) (Casablanca) has announced that it will start a new route connecting Marrakech to Europe.

The new weekly flight between Marrakech and Bergamo Airport (near Mlan) will start on October 28. The new route will operate on Sundays, departing Marrakech International Airport at 13:25 and arriving in Bergamo at 17:55. The return flight departs Bergamo at 10:15 and arrives in Marrakech International Airport at 12:45. All times are local.

Air Arabia’s second quarter profit rose 2% to $13.8 million

Air Arabiaโ€™s (airarabia.com) (Sharjah) net profit for the three months ending on June 30, 2011, rose to AED 51 million ($13.8 million), an increase of 2 percent compared to AED 50 million in the corresponding period in 2010.

The airline served 1,161,944 passengers in the second quarter of 2011, an increase of five percent compared to 1,108,310 passengers in the same period last year. In the three months ending on June 30, 2011, Air Arabiaโ€™s average seat load factor โ€“ or passengers carried as a percentage of available seats โ€“ maintained its impressive rate and stood at 82.5 percent.

Air Arabia operates from three main bases in Sharjah International Airport, United Arab Emirates; Mohamed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco and Alexandria airport in Egypt.

AirArabia Maroc (Regional Air Lines) (airarabia.com) (Casablanca) will commence operations on May 6 between Casablanca and London (Stansted) with Airbus A320s. The first new one (A320-214 CN-NMA, msn 3809) was delivered today. The second A320 is being prepared at Shannon.

The new airline will also add Casablanca to Marseille (May 8), Charleroi (Brussels) (May 10), Bergamo (Milan) (May 12), Lyon (May 14) and Paris (CDG) (May 16).
