Altura Airlines launches operations in Western Australia

Altura Airlines officially launched charter operations on July 20, 2026, establishing its primary hub at Perth Airport in Western Australia as a majority Indigenous-owned airline. Founded by prominent Indigenous entrepreneur Amanda Healy alongside co-founders Michael Evans and Phil Garcia, the carrier was created to deliver specialized resource-sector charters, Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) workforce transportation, and vital air links for regional communities across Western Australia.

To launch its initial services, Altura Airlines deployed a regional fleet of De Havilland Canada DHC-8-100 and high-capacity DHC-8-400 turboprop aircraft. The Dash 8 family provides the essential operational flexibility required to serve remote, unpaved, or short airstrips supporting mining operations and regional hubs throughout the Outback.

Looking ahead, Altura Airlines aims to scale its transport capacity and market reach by introducing Airbus A320 narrowbody jetliners beginning in 2027. The upcoming addition of the A320 fleet will allow the Perth-based operator to secure larger FIFO corporate contracts, support high-density mining corridors, and offer extended non-stop range across national charter routes.

The airline describes itself:

Altura Airlines is a proudly majority Indigenous-owned, community-driven private airline connecting people, projects and communities across remote and regional Australia.

We specialise in providing safe, reliable and flexible aviation solutions to the mining and resources sector, government and regional communities, helping keep essential operations moving while creating lasting social and economic value where we operate.

We operate in full compliance with aviation regulations and maintain rigorous safety and maintenance standards across our fleet and operations.

Designed by Nani Creative and Wongutha artist Kevin Wilson, the artwork represents movement, reflecting the journey Altura takes as it travels across Country.

The artwork is intended as a symbol in the sky, reminding us of First Nations histories and custodianship of the lands Altura flies across. The warm colours draw inspiration from Country and the changing light of sunrise and sunset โ€“ these being shared moments that connect people across different places.
