WestJet announces two new routes

WestJet has announced new flights from Edmonton, AB, to Hamilton, ON, and Winnipeg, MB, to Kelowna, BC. Flights are available for sale as of Monday June 27, 2016 , with service commencing July 28, 2016.

WestJet also announced enhanced schedules between Vancouver and Winnipeg, and Edmonton and Vancouver. Starting July 28 through September 6, 2016, flights operating between Vancouver and Winnipeg will operate 24 times weekly. Flights between Edmonton and Vancouver will operate 54 times weekly. These new flights offer greater flexibility and more options during the peak summer travel period.

Flights will be operated on WestJet’s Boeing 737 aircraft.

WestJet reports record first quarter net earnings of C$140.7 million

WestJet (Calgary) today announced its first quarter results for 2015, with record net earnings of $140.7 million (all amounts in Canadian dollars), or $1.09 per diluted share. This compares with the net earnings of $89.3 million, or $0.69 per diluted share reported in the first quarter of 2014, up 57.6 per cent and 58.0 per cent, respectively. WestJet achieved an on-time performance rate of 78.0 per cent in the first quarter, a year-over-year improvement of 10.1 percentage points. Based on the trailing twelve months, the airline achieved a return on invested capital of 15.8 per cent, compared with the 14.3 per cent reported in the previous quarter.

WestJet to fly to Hawaii from Calgary/Edmonton

WestJet Airlines (Calgary) will fly from both Calgary and Edmonton to Hawaii for a short period in the spring. The company will fly once a week from Calgary to both Honolulu (March 7 through April 25, 2010) and Kahului (Maui) (March 6 through May 1) and also from Edmonton to Kahului (March 5 through April 30).
