American Airlines to add new service to Cozumel and Roatan

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is planning to add weekly flights between its DFW hub and Roatan, Honduras starting on November 23, 2013 per Airline Route. Roatan Island is famous as an diving destination off the northern coast of Honduras in the Bay Islands.

In addition, American will also add Miami-Cozumel service commencing on November 21. The route will be operated five days a week.

Both routes will be operated with Boeing 737-800s.

American Airlines:

American launches Dallas/Fort Worth-Seoul (Incheon) service

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) today (May 9) launched daily nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea.

The new service is operated as part of American’s joint business agreement with fellow oneworld^®alliance member Japan Airlines-JAL (Tokyo).

The new route is operated with a Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft (above), featuring 16 Flagship Suite seats in First Class that transform into fully lie-flat 6-foot-6-inch beds with drop-down armrests. The aircraft will also feature inflight entertainment at every seat, including Korean movies and pop music (K-Pop), Hollywood movies (with Korean audio or subtitles), and games.

Departs DFW at 10:20 a.m. CT
Arrives at ICN at 2:50 p.m. KST the following day

AA 26

Departs ICN at 4:50 p.m. KST
Arrives at DFW at 4:05 p.m. CT the following day

American Airlines:

American Eagle considers a new name and tells its employees to be patient

American Eagle Airlines (2nd) (subsidiary of AMR Corporation) (formerly Simmons Airlines) (Dallas/Fort Worth), the original Eagle, is considering a new name since so many more carriers will soon be flying under the American Eagle brand. The company realizes it needs to differentiate itself from the other Eagle carriers. Names, according to this article by the Dallas News, are being vetted and considered. This article, quoting an internal memo to employees, also answers the most pressing questions at Eagle by its employees.

Meanwhile Republic Airlines (Indianapolis) will start flying as an American Eagle contract carrier on August 1 with Embraer ERJ 175s according to Airline Route. The first routes will link Chicago (O’Hare) and Albuquerque, New Orleans and Pittsburgh. On August 27 the Republic service will expand to Kansas City, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Toronto (Pearson) and Washington (Reagan National). Finally on October 1 the contract will be expanded to Houston (Bush Intercontinental), Newark, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and San Antonio.
