Since February 28, EuroLOT passengers can also fly to Milan from Gdansk Airport with stopovers in Lublin. The connection will be operated twice a week – on Fridays and Sundays.

RwandAir (Kigali, Rwand) and Bombardier Yesterday (February 27) celebrated the delivery of a dual-class Bombardier DHC-8-402 (9XR-WL, msn 4464) (marketed as theย Q400). RwandAirโs order for the aircraft was announced on April 22, 2013.
RwandAir is now one of 15 operators ofย Q400ย andย Q400 NextGenย aircraft in Africa, and itsย Q400 NextGenย aircraft joins more than 55ย Q400ย andย Q400 NextGenย aircraft that are already in service, or ordered for operation, in 12 countries in Africa. RwandAir is also now the fourth airline operating the dual-classย Q400 NextGenย aircraft among the five customers that have ordered this configuration to date.
In other news,ย RwandAir will launch a new route to Doula, Cameroon on March 30, 2014 with four weekly flights departing Kigali every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
RwandAir will operate the new with the new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft equipped with 7 Business Class and 68 Economy Class seats. The aircraft also operates daily services to Nairobi, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam, Bujumbura and Brazzaville via Kigali.

Flybe (Exeter) designated one of its Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) aircraft as an official “Love Plane” to celebrate Valentineโs Day. Decked out with hearts on its nose and underbelly to be visible from the ground, it will operate scheduled services in and out of seven UK airports during February.

Malawian Airlines (Lilongwe, Malawi) introduced Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) turboprop serviceย on January 31 between Lilongwe and Blantyre. Malawian Airlines launched domestic and international flights with a dual-class DHC-8-402 (Q400)ย (ET-AQB, man 4419) leased from co-owner Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa).
The domestic route was extended internationally to Harare, Zimbabwe on February 3 with ET-AQB.
The new airline is also planning to add a Boeing 737-800.
Founded in July 2013, Malawian Airlines is a public-private partnership between the Government of Malawi, Ethiopian Airlines and Malawian institutional and individual investors.

Ethiopian Airlines is pleased to announce that its strategic partner for the southern Africa region, Malawian Airlines, has launched its first international flight to Johannesburg on February 17, 2014.
Malawian will operate daily from Lilongwe to Johannesburg, with a stopover in Blantyre, with a brand new Boeing 737-800 with Sky Interior and a 154 seat capacity configured in two classes, Business and Economy.
As part of its strategy to set up multiple hubs in Africa in line with its 15 year strategic roadmap, Vision 2025, Ethiopian has partnered with the Malawian Government and private interests in the country to establish Malawian Airlines in Lilongwe. Ethiopian has 49% equity stake as well as the technical and management contract for the new airline. Lilongwe is now the 3rd hub of Ethiopian for Southern Africa region, after Lomรฉ, which has been serving for the last 4 years as a hub for the West African region thru a partnership with ASKY Airlines.

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) issued this announcement about the upcoming Horizon Air (Alaska Horizon) (Seattle/Tacoma) service in the state of Alaska starting on March 3:
Travelers on Alaska Airlines flights between Anchorageย andย Fairbanksย andย Anchorageย andย Kodiakย will soon enjoy an extra infusion of local flavor in the form of Silver Gulch Brewing & Bottling Co.’s Old 55 Pale Ale.
Passengers will have the opportunity to sample the moderately hopped, American-style pale ale free of charge beginningย March 3, when Alaska Airlines introduces the Bombardierย Q400ย to the state ofย Alaska. The flights will be operated for Alaska Airlines by its sister carrier, Horizon Air (Alaska Horizon). These flights will feature complimentary soft drinks, Starbucks coffee, Northwest wine and microbrews (for passengers 21 and older), and A la Cart planeside baggage service.
The brewery, which has locations inย Anchorageย and north ofย Fairbanks, will bottle the beer in stainless steel “Kleen Kanteens,” (above) which are lighter, stronger and more environmentally friendly than traditional glass bottles.
Samples are about 6.5 ounces and will be offered to customers on flights operating afterย 11 a.m.
Travelers can pick up their very own Kleen Kanteens (or traditional glass growlers) filled with their favorite Silver Gulch beers at the brewery’s restaurant in the C Concourse at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport or at the brewery and restaurant in Fox,ย Alaska.
Horizon Air is a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group and flies to 39 cities acrossย the United States,ย Canadaย and Mexico.
Silver Gulch Brewing and Bottling was founded in Fox,ย Alaska, in 1998 by two lifelong Alaskans. Silver Gulch is America’s most northern brewery, located at the start of the “haul road” toย Prudhoe Bayย about 11 miles north ofย Fairbanks. Bombardier Aerospace has announced that lessor Palma Holding Limited (Palma) has signed a firm purchase agreement for four dual-class Bombardierย Q400 NextGenย aircraft. The agreement, which also includes options for an additional fourย Q400 NextGenย aircraft, follows a letter of intent to acquire the aircraft that Bombardier announced on November 18, 2013. Under a joint venture with Ibdar Bank BSC, Palma intends to lease four of theย Q400 NextGenaircraft to Ethiopian Airlines.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates a fleet that includes 13 Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) NextGenย airliners.

Flybe (Exeter), currently under a reorganization aimed at cutting costs under a new CEO (Saad Hammad), expects its job cuts to be smaller than the original 500 redundancies it expected. It now expects to cut around 450 positions according to this report by Reuters.

Bombardier (Montreal) is planning to build the DHC-8-402 (marketed as the Q400) in Ulyanovsk, Russia starting in 2015 according to Russian Aviation. The planned output in Russia is two aircraft per month and will be supervised by Bombardier representatives.

In other news,ย Bombardier Aerospace and Horizon Air (Alaska Horizon) (Seattle/Tacoma) on January 22 celebrated the delivery of the airlineโs 51stย Q400ย turboprop airliner in Portland, Oregon. The aircraft, officially DHC-8-402 N452QX (msn 4459) which is aย NextGenย model, is the last of three ordered by Horizon Air in June 2013, solidifying the airlineโs position as the worldโs largest operator ofย Q400ย aircraft.
To recognize the delivery, a Bombardier delegation comprised of key team members who support theย Q400ย aircraft program, journeyed to Portland to participate in the celebration along with Horizon Airโs employees. The 51stย aircraft, which provided a backdrop for the event, bares a special โpeople-poweredโ livery that includes the signatures of Horizon Air employees.
Johnson said the three newย Q400 NextGenย aircraft will allow the airline to begin operations in the state of Alaska on March 3, 2014, with daily flights between Anchorage and Fairbanks, and Anchorage and Kodiak. Horizon Air flies on behalf of Alaska Airlines and is a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group.
Horizon Airโsย Q400ย aircraft are equipped with Head-up Guidance Systems (HGS) for all-weather operations, Wide Area Augmentation Systems (WAAS) with approach guidance (LPV) for ILS-like landing minima at remote runways and RNP AR 0.3 to fly curved approaches to airports in difficult terrain. The unmatched capability to land and take off on challenging runways in unsettled weather is another benefit of theย Q400ย aircraft.
Established in 1981, Horizon Air was acquired in 1986 by Alaska Air Group, Inc., the parent company of Alaska Airlines. At its start, the airline operated two aircraft and served three destinations in Washington State.
Bombardier has booked firm orders for 480ย Q400ย andย Q400 NextGenย aircraft.

Nok Air (Bangkok) has placed a firm order for two Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400)ย turboprop airliners and has also taken options for two additionalย aircraft, as well as purchase rights on four others. Bombardier also confirmed that Nok Air will be the launch customer for a new extra capacity seating option, which will allow theย Q400 NextGenย aircraft to accommodate up to 86 passengers.
