Global Aviation (Johannesburg) brought their McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 ZS-GAJ (msn 47730) to Zurich last night after a long ferry flight from Johannesburg. The crew arrived in Switzerland to pick up the FIFA World Cup Trophy for a world tour before the next World Cup in South Africa in 2010. The airliner wears a special “FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola” color scheme. Additional details on the world tour schedule are welcome. ZS-GAJ was originally delivered to Garuda as PK-GNO on August 13, 1976 and later served with Midwest Express Airlines (now Midwest Airlines) as N209ME. The world tour will start in Africa with the first city being Cairo. The African portion will be 76 days alone!
