Sunwing Airlines (Toronto-Pearson) will start weekly service from Calgary to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island on November 1, 2014. The flights will depart initially on Saturdays then switch to become a weekly service on Fridays from December 19, 2014.
With the introduction of the Calgary service, the airline will offer eight Canadian gateways into the island.

Bahamasair (Nassau) as previously reported, started as planned nonstop flights between Freeport (Grand Bahama Island) and four U.S. cities including Richmond, Virginia; Louisville, Kentucky; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Baltimore/Washington on May 1, 2012. This new network from Freeport (FPO) replaced Vision Airlines-operated flights which ended on April 30.
The new routes are being operated with Boeing 737-400 aircraft operated by Xtra Airlines (Boise) configured with 138 coach seats and 12 first class seats.
