Mauritania Airlines takes delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 MAX 8

Mauritania's first Boeing 737-8 MAX 8, delivered on December 20, 2017

Boeing and Mauritania Airlines International on December 20, 2017 celebrated the delivery of the airline’s new 737 MAX 8.  The Mauritanian carrier becomes the first operator of the new and improved airplane in Africa.

Named "Awkar"

The 737 MAX delivers the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market by incorporating the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets, the Boeing Sky Interior, large flight deck displays, and other improvements. The efficiency gains have helped make the MAX the fastest selling airplane in Boeing history with more than 4,000 orders to date from 92 customers worldwide.

Founded in 2010, Mauritania Airlines International serves more than 10 destinations across Africa and Europe from its base at Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport in Mauritania’s capital city of Nouakchott. The Mauritanian flag-carrier operates a fleet which includes one Next-Generation 737-800, one Next Generation 737-700, two 737-500s and now the 737 MAX 8.

Mauritania Airlines orders one Boeing 737 MAX 8

Mauritania Airlines on June 21, 2017 announced an order for one Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplane at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The order, valued at $112.4 million at list prices, was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

Based in Mauritania’s capital city Nouakchott, at Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport, Mauritania Airlines was founded in 2010 and currently serves more than 10 destinations across Africa and Europe. The Mauritanian flag-carrier currently operates a fleet which includes one Next-Generation 737-800, one Next Generation 737-700 and two 737-500s.

Mauritania Airlines and Boeing have finalized an order for one Next-Generation 737-800 airplane, valued at $96 million at current list prices.

Mauritania Airlines International prepares to lease its first Boeing 737-700 as it gets ready to launch operations

Mauritania Airlines International-MAI (Nouakchott) is getting ready to accept its first Boeing 737-700, joining two Boeing 737-500s. The new airline is on the verge of launching operations as the new flag carrier of Mauritania.

Mauritania Airlines takes delivery of its first aircraft

Mauritania Airlines International (Nouakchott) was established last year to replace defunct Mauritania Airways. The new flag carrier is adding two Boeing 737-500s formerly operated by Czech Airlines-CSA. The first aircraft, this Boeing 737-55S registered 5T-CLA (msn 28469, ex OK-CGH), departed Prague on delivery on January 4, 2011.

Mauritania Airlines to start flying soon, replacing Mauritania Airways

Mauritania Airlines International (Nouakchott) is the new national carrier of Mauritania. The new is due to start domestic and regional operations before the end of the year according to President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. The airline will start operations with two Boeing 737-55S aircraft (5T-CLA, msn 28469 and 5T-CLB, msn 28470). The new flag carrier is replacing Mauritania Airways.
