Porter Airlines arrives in Washington Dulles today

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City) arrived in Washington today with its inaugural flight from the downtown Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Porter is initially three roundtrips daily toย Washington Dulles International Airport with a fourth roundtrip coming on May 14.

Porter Airlines responds to Air Canada’s increase, adds two more New York flights

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City Centre Airport), not be undone by Air Canada’s announcement of new New York service, has upped the ante. Porter is adding two additional daily flights and a more convenient schedule. This increases daily roundtrip departures between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport to as many as 13 flights each business day.

The first new flight starts on March 26, with a second flight beginning on April 16, and additional weekend options as of March 25.

Porter also launched a new nonstop service between Newark and Mt. Tremblant, Quebec this winter, a popular skiing destination.

Porter Airlines is coming to Washington

Porter Airlines (Toronto) is arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport starting on April 16. Dulles will be the Canadian carrier’s sixth U.S. destination with up to three daily roundtrip flights operating between Dulles and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Porter Airlines to add Timmins service on January 16

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City Airport) is introducing service between Timmins and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, beginning on January 16, 2012, with three daily roundtrip flights.

The new route continues Porterโ€™s successful Northern Ontario expansion, which includes Thunder Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie service.

Porter Airlines to fly to Burlington, Vermont this winter

Porter Airlines (Toronto-Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) is launching seasonal service to Burlington, Vermont, this winter, expanding its U.S. network and adding a new destination for its ski passengers.

Porter will operate twice-weekly roundtrip flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to Burlington International Airport beginning on December 15 until April 8, 2012.

The Burlington schedule includes weekly roundtrips on Thursdays and Sundays, with the exception of long weekends which offer Thursday and Monday roundtrip options.

Porter Airlines to launch Newark to Mont Tremblant, Quebec flights this winter

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City Centre) will launch a new route for skiers this winter. The fast-growing carrier will launch a new route from Newark to Mont Tremblant, Quebec, this winter from December 22 to April 12, 2012.

Porter Airlines celebrates its fourth anniversary today

Porter Airlines (Toronto-City Centre) is celebrating its fourth anniversary today (October 23). The airline has operated over 86,000 flights and, this week, carried its three millionth passenger.

Highlights of the airlineโ€™s success in the past year include adding Moncton, Sudbury, and Myrtle Beach as destinations, while service also expanded in Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Boston, New York, and Mont Tremblant. The Porter team has grown to over 1,000 employees, up from 700 at this time last year.

The airlineโ€™s expanding fleet now includes 20 70-seat Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) aircraft. A recent order for up to 10 additional aircraft potentially brings the fleet size to 30 by 2012.

A new $49 million dollar modern terminal, including two passenger lounges with well-appointed features and an array of free amenities, is nearing completion at Porterโ€™s main base of operations at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Porter now serves 14 destinations across Canada and the United States, a considerable increase from the single route between Toronto City Airport and Ottawa when the airline launched in 2006.

Porter Airlines to grow Toronto City-Newark route to 11 roundtrips

Porter Airlines (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) is finalizing approval for four additional slots at Newark Liberty International Airport. As a result, Porter Airlines will operate 11 daily roundtrip flights to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, beginning September 20. The airline currently operates nine daily roundtrips.

In other news,ย Porter Airlines is returning to Mont Tremblant, QC, for its fourth winter season, with increased service from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Up to 12 flights per week will be operated, an increase from eight flights per week last season.

Theย Mont Tremblantย winter schedule debuts on December 21, running untilย April 3. Flight time is just over an hour between downtownย Torontoย andย Mont Tremblant.

Porter Airlines orders four more Q400s

Porter Airlines (Toronto-Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) has confirmed a new order for four 70-seat Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) turboprops, plus six options.

Porter currently operates a fleet of 20 Q400 aircraft and the new order potentially raises this number to 30.

The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery beginning in the second quarter of 2011, through the third quarter of 2012, including option aircraft.

Porter also confirmed it has raised an additional C$15 million in equity from existing shareholders. The proceeds will be used primarily for working capital and new aircraft purchases.

Air Canada loses the first round to compete against Porter

Air Canada (Montreal) has apparently lost the first round in its latest effort to gain access for Air Canada Jazz at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and compete against Porter Airlines.

A federal court judge has dismissed Air Canadaโ€™s allegations of wrongdoing against Porter Airlines.
