Bluebird Nordic to operate in the Caribbean area this winter for Sky Cana

Bluebird Nordic (Keflavik) has received a foreign operating certificate from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

As a result, the Icelandic carrier will operate seven weekly roundtrip flights alternating between Santo Domingo, D.R., San Jose, Costa Rica and Miami International Airport (MIA) starting on December 27, 2022. Bluebird Nordic will operate its Boeing 737-800F aircraft on the flights for Sky Cana of the Dominican Republic.

Bluebird Nordic operates a fleet of one Boeing 737-300, seven Boeing 737-400s and one Boeing 737-800 full freighter aircraft.

Sky Cana to wet lease 3 Airbus A321s and one A320 from Avion Express

Avion Express has made this announcement:

Avion Express has announced the continuance and expansion of its successful partnership with Sky Cana, a start-up airline headquartered in Santo Domingo.

The companies have been in partnership for a few years and now the ACMI airline has signed a contract to wet-lease three Airbus A321s and one Airbus A320 aircraft to operate on behalf of the carrier for a one year period starting in April 2022 until March 2023.

Sky Cana is a Dominican air carrier, using ACMI for its operations. Working with some of the best tourist destinations in the Caribbean, the airline offers transfer, freight, overflight, helicopter, advertising, air ambulance, and tour services to locations in the United States of America, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

Sky Cana clarifies its operations to the United States

Sky Cana (Santo Domingo) issued this statement:

Sky Cana formally clarifies that flight operations to and from the United States are being carried out through a strategic alliance with Air Century, where Air Century is the air operator, operating under its AOC, Sky Cana acting as a ticket agent, is up to at the moment, a commercial brand, not an authorized airline for this type of operation.

Indeed, as Sky Cana we are doing all the pertinent governmental and permitting procedures so that when the time comes to operate under our own AOC.

We apologize for the confusion this may have caused the consumer and government entities.

Sky Holdings Corporation dba Sky Cana Airlines is a virtual airline with ACMI contracted operators based in Santo Domingo.

Sky Cana is a new airline in the Dominican Republic

Sky Cana (Dominican Sky) (Sky Cana Holding Inc.) (Santo Domingo and Miami) is a new airline based in the Dominican Republic.

Two Airbus A321-231s (9H-AMD and 9H-AME) have been leased from Avion Express Malta.

The aircraft promote popular destinations in the D.R. such as Samana and Puerto Plata.

Operations commenced on January 30, 2021.
