British Airways (London) is facing another strike threat by its cabin crew. More than 7,400 BA cabin crew yesterday (February 22) voted in favor of walking off the job within weeks over working conditions and a pay freeze.

Southern Air (2nd) (Anchorage) on February 17 took delivery of its first modern Boeing 777F freighter. Boeing 777-FZB N774SA (msn 37986) was accepted in a white condition. The freighter flew to Victorville, CA for painting in this somewhat generic 2010 livery with Thai’s web address. Southern Air is the world’s first ACMI operator of the 777F.
Thai Airways International (Bangkok) has entered into a block space agreement with Southern Air to utilize the full capacity of the first two 777Fs. Thai Cargo and Southern Air will officially announce the freighter operation in March at Thai Cargo’s facility at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.
The second 777-FZB (N775SA, msn 37987) is also fully painted at Everett (Paine Field) and will be delivered on March 2.

LAN Airlines’ (Chile) part-owner and also Chile’s President-elect, Sebastian Pinera, will sell a smaller-than-expected stake in the airline to his partners, leaving a portion for investors interested in one of Latin America’s biggest carriers.
Yesterday Pinera agreed to sell his 8.56 percent stake in LAN Airlines (Chile) (Santiago), worth around $500 million, to the Cueto family, a lower stake than the market first expected.
The center-right businessman had originally offered to sell 71.7 million shares worth $1.23 billion to the family, which along with Pinera is the controlling stakeholder in the Santiago-based carrier. The remaining 60 million shares will be sold to others starting between now and March 9, when Pinera officially completes the sale to the Cueto family.

For the full-year, ExpressJet reported a net loss ofย $3.3 million. ย Excluding special items, ExpressJet reported aย $1.6 millionย net loss for the full-year 2009.

Aegean Airlines (Athens)ย and recently privatized Olympic Air (3rd) (Athens) agreed to merge to form a stronger airline better able to compete against foreign airlines. The Olympic name and logo will be retained for the new entity after a transition period where both carriers will operate separately.
