Etihad Airways increases its share in Airberlin to 29%, forms a strategic alliance

Etihad Airways (Abu Dhabi) is increasing its shareholding in Airberlin (Berlin) to 29 percent. The two airlines have also announced a new strategic alliance.

Airberlin issued the following statement:

“Airberlin and Etihad Airways have started a strategic partnership. And that’s great news for all our guests! We now offer you a combined network of 239 destinations across 77 countries! A whole new world of choice for traveling to the Middle East, Africa and Australasia via Abu Dhabi.

From January 15, 2012 airberlin will commence nonstop flights from Berlin to Abu Dhabi, four days a week with an Airbus 330-200.
