Icelandair (Reykjavik) for the second summer season in a row, will resume service to Washington (Dulles) from Keflavik starting on March 29. Flight FI 644 from the nation’s capital will commence with four flights per week, increasing up to five flights per week starting on May 23 and six flights per week beginning on June 11. Service is scheduled to continue until January 2013 and resume again in the spring of 2013.
Service from Washington-Dulles began in 2011 with a successful launch and due to the demand was extended through 2012 shortly after being announced.
This year Icelandair celebrates 75 years of aviation with its largest network in its history.
Other seasonal flights resuming in the spring include Toronto on March 28, Minneapolis/St. Paul on May 15 and Halifax on June 7. Icelandair will also launch year-round service from their newest gateway, Denver on May 11.
The addition of Denver to its route map is not surprising since Icelandair and Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver) on December 21, 2011 announced a new interline partnership, expanding the travel options from Denver International Airport.
