Ukraine International expands its fleet and route structure

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) (Kiev) is expanding its fleet and route structure. In June the flag carrier leased two additional Boeing 737-800s (UR-PSG and UR-PSH). The fleet is now composed of 28 Boeing aircraft and two leased Embraer ERJ 190s.

As a result, the airline is adding new routes. On June 29, a weekly Lvov-Rome route was launched. This was followed by a new route linking Kiev with Sochi, Russia. The new route will operate three days a week. The 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi.

The Sochi route was followed by a new route from Simferopol to Tel Aviv, Israel which started on July 4. The Israeli route will operate two days a week.

Finally a new weekly route was started between Simferopol and Yerevan, Armenia.

Sunwing Airlines to fly Toronto-Curacao weekly winter flights

Sunwing Airlines (flysunwing.com) (Toronto-Pearson) hasย announced new nonstop service from Toronto (Pearson) to Curaรงao. The weekly flights will operate from December 15, 2013 to March 30, 2014.

Skymark Airlines to finalize an order for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

Boeing (Chicago)ย and Skymark Airlines (Tokyo-Haneda) today announced the airline’s intent to select theย Boeing 737ย MAX as its next generation single aisle aircraft of choice, making it Japan’s first airline to do so. The announcement came on the first day of the 2013 Paris Air Show. Boeing will work closely with Skymark to finalize a firm order in the coming months.

Skymark Airlines currently operates a fleet of 30 Next-Generation 737-800s on a lease fromย GE Capital Aviation Servicesย (GECAS) and other lessors.

The 737 MAX builds on the strengths of the world’s best-selling Next-Generation 737. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest-technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 13 percent fuel-use improvement over today’s most fuel-efficient single-aisle airplanes.

Ukraine International Airlines meanwhile expands with new routes

Ukraine International Airlinesย (UIA) (Kiev) meanwhile is expanding in the wake of AeroSvit’s bankruptcy proceedings. The airline inย May 2013 will launch new routes from Kiev to resort city of Sochi which will host the 2014 Winter Olympics, and Krasnodar in Russia. Kiev-Sochi will start on May 24 with three flights a week and Kiev-Krasnodar will commence on May 25 also with three flights a week.

In addition the carrier is taking over 21 routes from AeroSvit according to Airline Route.

Sunwing inaugurates flights from Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Sunwing Airlines (Toronto-Pearson) on December 19ย inaugurated seasonal service from Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray, Alberta to Puerto Vallarta, on Mexico”s magnificent Pacific coast.

All flights to Puerto Vallarta will operate on Wednesdays until March 20, 2013.
