Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire opens a new route to South Africa

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire will be launching the quickest route between Johannesburg and Abidjan, in Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, in June.

The Johannesburg-Abidjan viaย  Kinshasa route will launch on June 29, 2022 and will be the fastest route between South Africa and Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire offered by any airline in Africa. The airline will be introducing four flights per week between Johannesburg and Abidjan. Bookings opened on June 1, 2022.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s vision is to be the leading airline in West and Central Africa. The new route also offers ease of access to 16 West and Central African countries: Congo, Gabon, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Niger, Liberia, Benin, Senegal, Cameroon, Togo, DRC, Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire receives its first Airbus A320neo

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, Ivory Coastโ€™s flagship carrier based in Abidjan, on February 17 too delivery of its first Airbus A320neo (above) (TU-TSX), becoming the first operator of the type in the West-African region. This latest generation aircraft will join Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s existing Airbus fleet of six aircraft.

With improved levels of efficiency, this new aircraft will be deployed on Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s regional network to serve Senegal, Gabon, and Cameroon. Destinations like South Africa will be added at a later stage, highlighting the operational flexibility of the A320neo.

Powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines, the aircraft is configured in a comfortable two-class layout with 16 seats in Business and 132 seats in Economy Class. Passengers will benefit from the widest cabin of any single-aisle aircraft, high-speed Internet connectivity and latest generation in-flight entertainment system.

Air Cote dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s first A320neo took off from Toulouse carrying 1 tonne of humanitarian goods including medical equipment and toys. In partnership with Aviation sans Frontiรจres and the Airbus Foundation, the mission is part of Air Cรดte d’Ivoireโ€™s corporate social responsibility initiative. The transported goods will serve local NGOs in Abidjan, thus supporting the education and health sector in the country.

Air Cote dโ€™Ivoire has a fleet of 10 aircraft, including three A319s and three A320s, serving 25 domestic and regional destinations in West and Central Africa.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire receives a new Airbus A320

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, the Ivory Coastโ€™s flagship airline based in Abidjan, received its new Airbus A320 at a ceremony that was held at the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse on Monday, July 17, 2017. This ceremony was jointly presided over by Didier Evrard, Airbus Executive Vice President Programmes and General Abdoulaye Coulibaly, Chairman of Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s Board of Directors.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire already operates six Airbus aircraft (four A319s and two A320) in the framework of a leasing contract. Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire operates 25 different domestic routes in West Africa and Central Africa.

The cabin of the aircraft is configured in two classes (16 business class and 132 economy class seats). The business class offering provides an unbeatable level of comfort with the new โ€œCelesteโ€ seat provided by Stelia Aerospace, while the economy class provides a high level of service, particularly in terms of the lighting system and internet connectivity.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire currently flies to 20 international destinations located in West and Central Africa, and to five domestic destinations.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire orders two more Bombardier Q400s

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire (Abidjan)Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire Orders Two More Bombardier Q400 , the national airline of the Republic of Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire has converted options on two Q400 NextGen airliners to a firm order. Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s two options were acquired under a contract announced on December 18, 2013 that also included a firm order for two Q400 NextGen aircraft. Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire took delivery of its first two aircraft in 2014, in a dual-class configuration.

Bombardier delivers two Q400s to Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft has delivered Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireโ€™s (Abidan) first two DHC-8-402 (Q400) NextGen turboprops (msn 4474 and 4478). The two aircraft will be showcased today (Saturday, November 15) during an inauguration event in the Republic of Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire.

The purchase agreement between Bombardier and Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, which covers two firm-ordered Q400 NextGen aircraft plus two options, was announced on December 18, 2013.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire is the national airline of the Republic of Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire orders two Bombardier Q400 turboprops

Bombardier Aerospace (Montreal) announced that Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire (Abidjan), has signed a conditional purchase agreement for two DHC-8-402ย Q400 NextGenย aircraft with options for an additional two additionalย aircraft. Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire is the national airline of Ivory Coast.

As of September 30, 2013 Bombardier had booked 476 firm orders forย Q400ย andย Q400 NextGenย turboprops.

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire finally commences revenue operations

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireย (Abidjan) finally operated its first revenue flight on November 12 with a flight from Abidjan to Dakar according to Reuters. This new national carrier replaces defunct Air Ivoire. The launch was delayed from April 2012. The new airline will operate on regional flights before it launches services to Europe. The company is operating two former Air France Airbus A319s. Air Cote d’Ivoire is a partnership betweenย Air France (Paris) andย theย Aga Khan Fund for Economic Developmentย (AKFED). Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire is owned by the government of Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Air France and Aรฉrienne de Participation-Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, an airline holding company of AKFED.

Air Cote d’Ivoire to launch operations by the end of July

Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoireย (Abidjan) is planning to launched scheduled passenger operations by the end of July. The new flag carrier is owned by theย Cote dโ€™Ivoireย government (51 percent), Airย France (20 percent) and the Agha Khan Group (15 percent).

On May 15, 2012 Air France, a strategic partner with the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) and the economic development agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), signed a partnership framework agreement and a shareholders agreement for the creation of Air Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire.
