Belavia, the national carrier of Belarus, has recorded a 20% year-over-year increase in passengers and has ordered another Embraer 195 to keep up with demand.

The new airplane brings the total number of E-Jets in the fleet to seven โ€“ four E195s and three E175s. The latest E195 will be delivered in 2018. Belavia also announced orders for one E195 and one E175 at the Paris Air Show earlier this year.

The airline is updating its fleet and using its E-Jets to add frequencies on existing routes and to open new markets.

The new E195 will replace the airlineโ€™s current Boeing 737-500s (below).

The pictured EW-455PA was delivered on August 13, 2016.

According to Boeing:

“The new livery is the result of a collaborative effort between Belavia, Boeing and the design firm Teague. Before creative concepts were drawn, Boeing’s Airline Partnership Marketing team and Teague provided guidance and training through a series of brand workshops.

The logo was inspired by the cornflower (“Valoshka” in Belarussian), which is a national symbol of Belarus– representing beauty, friendship and prosperity.

The airplane’s interior combines a blend of cornflower blue, light grey and white with the Boeing Sky Interior lighting.”

Belavia orders three Boeing 737-800s to upgrade the fleet

Belavia Belarusian Airlines (Minsk) and Boeing (Chicago and Seattle) have reached an agreement on an order for three Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. Valued at $272 million at current list prices, this is the first direct purchase of Boeing airplanes for Belavia.

The new airplanes will be capable of carrying up to 189 passengers in economy class cabin. Belavia said it will use these airplanes on existing charter routes because the economic efficiency of the airplanes will reduce operational costs and the extended range will allow for nonstop flights to farther destinations, including Tenerife, Canary Islands and Dubai.

Belavia serves a network of routes between European cities and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as several Middle East destinations. The airline’s Boeing fleet currently consists of six 737-500s and seven 737-300s.
