Alaska Airlines introduces new ‘Mickey’s Toontown’-themed livery featuring Mickey Mouse and his pals at Disneyland Resort on N565AS

Alaska Airlines’ newest, uniquely themed aircraft will be soaring through the skies starting today (November 1) with a touch of magic from everyone’s favorite pal, Mickey Mouse.

After the big reveal of this specially themed plane at a gate ceremony in Seattle-Tacoma (SeaTac), passengers will board the inaugural flight to Orange County, Calif., to visit “The Happiest Place on Earth” at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

The special-edition aircraft features the return of Mickey Mouse on an Alaska Airlines plane since he made his debut on the carrier’s fleet eight years ago.

Named “Mickey’s Toontown Express,” the celebrated plane is now flying on routes across Alaska’s network.

Adorned with playful images of Mickey Mouseand Minnie Mouse, along with their pals Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park, the Boeing 737-800, restered as N565AS, is Alaska Airlines’ eighth livery in collaboration with Disneyland Resort.

For the unique design – which even includes Chip ‘n’ Dale on the boarding doors and winglets – it took artists over 400 hours and 20 days to hand-paint the brightly colored aircraft exterior from nose to tail.

Knowing the joy the Disneyland Resort-themed planes can bring to families, Alaska Airlines and Disney sent several families and special guests on the inaugural flight to experience Alaska’s everyday level of care before heading off to Orange County, including priority boarding for families with children under two, family seating at no additional charge, coloring books and the popular Kids’ Choice Picnic Pack and Jetsetter’s Jam Sandwich for guests flying in our Premium and Main Cabins. The “Mickey’s Toontown Express” plane will offer activity books and snack packs onboard with designs that feature Mickey Mouse and his pals, while supplies last.

The plane’s exterior artwork is inspired by Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland Park, a whimsical and newly reimagined, animated neighborhood where families can explore, play, discover and unwind together while enjoying new interactive experiences, familiar favorites and the new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Guests will be able to fly Alaska’s “Mickey’s Toontown Express” livery for the next several years before it reaches the end of its normal rotation.

Alaska Airlines’ other Disneyland Resort-themed liveries include “Friendship and Beyond at the Disneyland Resort,” which portrays larger-than-life versions of Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story” friends Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie at Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park, and the “Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort,” a space-black livery that celebrates Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre land of adventure at Disneyland Park. The 737-800 boasts the iconic Millennium Falcon on the tail chased by TIE fighters.

Alaska Airlines adds new coast-to-coast routes this winter linking sunny destinations

Alaska Airlines is add three new routes just in time for the holidays: Portland-Miami begins service on Nov. 17, and Palm Springs-New York JFK and San Luis Obispo-Las Vegas flights start on Dec. 14.

Portland-Miami
Our flight connecting the West Coast to the East Coast will fly daily, year-round, beginning Nov. 17. When service starts, we’ll fly to 42 nonstop destinations from Portland with 96 peak-daily flights. Miami becomes the fourth Florida city we serve nonstop from Portland joining Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa. This new flight becomes our second nonstop to Miami; we began our Seattle-Miami route in June 2022.

Palm Springs-New York JFK
Our guests in Southern California are eager for more nonstops to the East Coast, and we’re ready to take them there. This seasonal flight connects the Big Apple with sunny deserts. Our convenient morning departure from New York allows flyers to arrive in Palm Springs refreshed and ready to get out and soak in the sun. Alaska has more flights to Palm Springs than any other airline.

San Luis Obispo-Las Vegas
We love connecting our California guests in new ways. This daily route will link San Luis Obispo in California’s Central Coast region with Las Vegas, allowing for connectivity with additional routes in our network. From San Luis Obispo, we also fly nonstop to San Diego, Portland and Seattle.

As we announce these new routes, we begin new daily nonstop service today, June 15, between San Diego and both Washington, D.C. (IAD) and Eugene, Oregon. We’ll also start new daily nonstop service between San Diego and Tampa on Oct. 5, when we’ll fly to 35 nonstop destinations from San Diego.

Alaska Airlines introduces N538AS in a special Star Wars livery at San Francisco today

Alaska Airlines is getting ready to unveil a special Star Wars livery.

The special scheme has been painted on Boeing 737-890 N538AS, the last AS aircraft in the old livery.

N538AS was ferried from Spokane to the Seattle/Tacoma hub in the dark late on May 3.

Alaska Airlines joined forces with Disneyland Resort today, May the Fourth, to unveil a new, one-of-its-kind Star Wars-themed aircraft that even Chewbacca would be proud of! The plane, painted space black with the iconic Millennium Falcon emblazoned on the tail chased by TIE fighters, celebrates Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the newest land of adventure inside Disneyland park. The plane is now flying on routes across Alaska’s network for the universe to enjoy!

For this latest collaboration – Alaska’s seventh painted plane for the Disneyland Resort – no Jedi mind tricks were needed: the force was strong for a Star Wars livery to finally enter Alaska’s fleet. The aircraft’s official name is “Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort” with a tail number of N538AS. After the big reveal and celebration at the gate in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the plane made its inaugural flight today and ultimate arrival at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

The unique design of the Star Wars-inspired plane is a collaboration among teams at Alaska, Disneyland Resort and Lucasfilm. Familiar spacecraft span each side of the plane with hand painted, detailed imagery: the Millennium Falcon and four TIE fighters. Designers at Disneyland Resort focused on the incredibly identifiable, widely recognized Millennium Falcon for the spotlight, in addition to the well-traveled spaceship being the focal point at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre land in Disneyland park.

The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Disneyland Resort logos are featured in the center of the fuselage. For a lighthearted touch, porgs (the cute avian creatures that lived on Luke Skywalker’s remote island) look back at passengers from both winglets, as another porg greets guests at the boarding door.

To bring the imagery to life, the plane’s exterior required 228 gallons of paint applied during 540 work hours over 27 days. For the painting, 23 base colors were used with numerous custom colors mixed onsite for the detailed airbrushing of the Millennium Falcon and the TIE fighters.

Alaska Air Cargo delivers the first Copper River Salmon to Seattle for the new season

Alaska Airlines (Seattle/Tacoma) announced the opening of the annual Copper Riser Salmon fishing season and the first delivery to SeaTac by Alaska Air Cargo. Here is the announcement:

A fish-filled Alaska Airlines jet touched down at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport shortly after 6 a.m. today, carrying 18,000 pounds of wild Alaska Copper River salmon — about 4,500 more pounds than the weight of a Learjet 31. A second plane carrying an additional 30,000 pounds is scheduled to arrive in Seattle around 10:20 a.m. Today officially marks the start of the salmon season that is anticipated by seafood lovers throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Alaska Airlines will operate up to five more flights today transporting the coveted Copper River salmon caught for three seafood processors: Ocean Beauty Seafoods, Trident Seafoods and Copper River Seafoods. The extra Copper River salmon flights will depart Cordova, Alaska, and arrive in Seattle and Anchorage, Alaska, where the fish will be shipped throughout the Pacific Northwest and across the United States today and through the weekend.

Alaska plays a significant role in supporting the Alaska seafood industry, which is recognized worldwide for its sustainable fishing practices. The carrier flew nearly 25 million pounds of fresh Alaska seafood to the Lower 48 states and beyond last year, including nearly 1.2 million pounds of Copper River salmon.
